Photos and photography thread (1 Viewer)

I enjoy the thread's photos.

But I also like seeing Sev's icon on the front page of the EE.

Really miss that dude. A lot. :/
Oye, do you know why he isn't here any more? Profile says last visit here was in Jan. I know he went to Brooks Falls in July and I thought he might post some pics.

Time to reawaken this thread from the dead....

I've decided to retire my Nikon D7500. Adorama is offering me $800 for it. I'm trying to decide on a replacement camera. I'm not heavily vested in the Nikon ecosystem, so I don't feel any need to stick with it. From what I've seen their Mirrorless cameras have been lacking (except the new Z9). So I'm mainly looking at Canon and Sony mirrorless cameras. Most of this decision making is from watching Jared Polin's YouTube channel.

So I'm considering either the Canon R6 or Sony A7 mk IV. From what I've seen, Sony has the larger 3rd party lens support, but Cannon has better overall glass, crazy AF capabilities, all kinds of insanity. So I thought I'd check with my SR family to get opinions because I KNOW y'all got opinions. So give me opinions!

This picture is from Rocky Mountain National Park using my D7500.

Just got back from the camera store where I got the Sony A7 IV and a Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DM Art lens. Man it's a big piece of glass for a 24-70mm. Right now I'm waiting for the battery to charge up so I can apply any updates to the camera and lens. I plan to make a trip to the mountains tomorrow or Christmas day. I should get some good landscape shots with this.

The only real downside to this camera body is that it does't come with a battery charger. I've ordered a 3rd party charger (and couple extra batteries) but it's kinda lame that they don't include that.

Went out to try the new rig today. Just a few snaps. Tomorrow we’re going sledding at Rocky Mountain National Park. I should have some great pics from that.

You’re going to love. I have the A7s3 and A1. Use the 24-70 2.8 Sony lens on both frequently. I don’t do a ton of photos but both are more capable than I am and still take amazing shots. The video side of the alpha cameras are unbelievably good and that is what ai use them for.

Yea, so far I like what I’m seeing. The Sigma lens is outstanding IMO.

New long lens was acquired today. Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3. This is my first time with a telephoto and DAAAAAAAMN. This mountain is Longs Peak and Mt Meeker. They are 34.4 miles from where I took this picture. Shot at 600mm, f/6.3, 800iso, 1/1250 shutter. I need to study up on using long lenses. I’m looking forward to using it for wildlife and sports photography.

Nice. My buddy and I hikes just below longs peak to chasm lake last June. That was incredible. We talk about going back to bag the peak itself.

I've got the 200-600 Sony with the 2x teleconverter that go on the A-1 which is 51MP or can shoot in 8k. It's like a powerful telescope.
