I didn't know that she was ill. I was listening to a National, sports radio show and they were talking about how NFL pregame shows have changed, and how we didn't get NFL news until 30 minutes before the game.

When they were discussing the shows they mentioned how she played a big part in how we viewed pregame. Before it was somebody talking about news of the league, and maybe somebody like Jimmy the Greek talking about who was favored to win. She helped to show the human side of the players.
 
Didn't realize she was that old. Must mean I'm getting old too. Lol.

I actually thought she would have been older. She got her job on the NFL today in 1975 at 26 years old, and as far as the article indicates, no sports experience at all. Bet that would be pretty unusual today.
