Pink Floyd sells catalog to Sony for $400 million (1 Viewer)

Big fan of Waters but I think he should have left Dark Side alone

Other than that his work is great! I highly recommend you attend one of his concerts. Some people I know find his shows disgusting but I found it phenomenal. The lasers and effects he uses are well done.

Must respectfully disagree.
Nick was always in the pocket and did what the music called for. Was he as flashy as Neil Peart, Keith Moon or John Bonham? No, but he did what the music required.
Well, I don’t disagree with that. But this is something Nick and the rest of the band have always acknowledged themselves. His range of skill was limited. Now, did his style fit the music? Certainly. But did it also limit the kind of music they could pull off together as a band? I think they’d all say yes.

He released this version of Dark Side a year or two ago. It’s actually pretty fantastic, in my opinion. It’s not a pure re-make. More like a re-imagining.

Bands can be iconic for different reasons as well. Kiss, for example, isn’t really thought of as iconic for their music - it has far more to do with their theatrics and overall band “personality”, it was something new.

Oh, really?? - Alice Cooper

You know they started out pattering their look after the Dolls, right?

Well yeah, fair enough - the makeup thing wasn’t new. But Kiss’s theatrical thing was more than just the makeup.

I guess I've never understood what it takes to make a band "iconic". Pink Floyd has some decent tunes but IMO nothing better than a lot of other bands out there.

Welp, you couldn’t be more wrong, you may not like them but they are very much iconic….there is a reason why DSOTM was on the charts for like decades…..the writing, Gilmores guitar and vocals, Waters vocals and bass and everything else are incredibly unique…..

If bands that are not cover bands (see Govt Mule) are playing your songs from over 40 years ago then how is that not iconic?

Watched this a few weeks back after getting into the right mindset. Gave me some feels.

I think this may have broken the deep sadness I have been mired in for the last week. Haven't been able to shake it, it's not a regular thing for me.
It made me smile and gave the good feels. My brother who introduced me to Pink many years ago passed away Monday. He loved them and so do I.
Thanks for sharing!

It's sad that my favorite music is going to end up being used to sell garbage.

What will be the first song used in a commercial?

Welcome to the Machine selling Cadillacs?

Time selling almost anything?

Wish you were here selling something in a sappy Christmas commercial for an airline?

My guess is Money in a Bank of America commercial.
