The Jefferson Parish Council voted Wednesday to impose a one-week suspension on liquor licenses at more than 60 businesses caught selling alcohol to minors in a recent undercover sting operation carried out by the Sheriff’s Office.
Among the popular local eateries caught flouting the rules were Zea Rotisserie and Brewery at the Clearview Mall, R&O's in Bucktown, Taqueria Corona and Bear's Po-Boys at Gennaro's on Metairie Road.
Some big national chains got caught as well, including Applebee's, Chili's, Hooters, Rite Aid and CVS stores.
Most will serve their suspensions beginning Monday, though a handful successfully requested that the date be pushed back to accommodate particular circumstances, officials said.
All of the businesses facing discipline are in the Metairie-based council district represented by Jennifer Van Vrancken, who said the crackdown was part of an ongoing, parishwide effort to send the message that Jefferson restaurants and bars need to obey laws against serving booze to those under 21.
"For us, it is about public safety," Van Vrancken said. "We want to enlist these businesses to be part of the prevention."

There are gonna be some sad karaoke singers at Little Tokyo next week...

Would be interesting to know how many of the "underage" spy drinkers were 18, 19, or 20. I'd hazard most if not all of them were. The 21 year old drinking age is one of the stupidest things put in place by the states, as a result of what was essentially Federal govt. blackmail.

Wasn't Louisiana that last state to comply with federal demands?

Must have been as luck would have it for me. The night I turned 18, I was allowed in Friar Tuck's and they said I could stay until midnight when the law went to 21...
