Delane Gordon, a DoorDash driver, was a few hundred yards from his delivery destination when a police officer passed him, hooked a U-turn and pulled him over for speeding.

On the side of the road in Collegedale, Tenn., Gordon “politely and repeatedly” asked to speak to the police officer’s supervisor, Gordon’s attorney says. But the situation escalated as the police officer demanded that Gordon get out of the car while Gordon refused, video of the March 10 incident shows.

“Get out!” the police officer ordered, pointing a Taser at Gordon, according to the video. The officer, whom the Collegedale Police Department has not identified, accused Gordon of not providing his identification, the video shows.

“Sir, I feel uncomfortable,” Gordon said. “Please get your supervisor.”

The officer then tried to pull Gordon out of the car. When Gordon did not comply, the officer pulled out his Taser again.

A moment later, video shows, the officer used the Taser on Gordon, who screamed in agony...........

Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey announced the five officers involved in the death of Jim Rogers, 54, have been terminated, reported CNN. Following an internal investigation, which was contested by the Allegheny County’s Court of Common Pleas, the officers were found to have conducted a “series of procedural failures.”

Rogers, who was a suspect in the theft of a bicycle, died while in custody of Pittsburgh Bureau of Police October 13. According to CNN’s report, police said they used a Taser on Rogers because he was not “complying with their orders.” Rogers was tased 10 times resulting in him being taken to Mercy Hospital where he died the next day.

The medical examiner ruled his death as an accident due to lack of oxygen to the brain, per WTAE.

From CNN:

The five officers, who were not identified, have 14 days to challenge the firings in arbitration, Public Safety Director Lee Schmidt said at a news conference with Mayor Ed Gainey. The officers will have the option to retire. Three other officers will be allowed to keep their jobs but, according to CNN affiliate KDKA-TV, they will have to be retrained.
Eight officers, including two supervisors, were suspended with pay after the incident, CNN affiliate KDKA-TV reported.
The internal review board found “a series of procedural failures” contributed to Roger’s death, reported CNN. The Allegheny County grand jury is deciding whether the eight officers involved could face criminal charges..............

Ok, I know there are some bad apples out there but, isn't this just a form of passive aggressiveness? A Karen situation? What would have happened if he had just complied? Get a ticket? Sometimes it seems like people are forcing the situation into escalation.

Was the victim within his rights, yes or no?

If yes, then the pig is at fault.

That POP attitude takes precidence over people rights. its a shame.
Would it have been that hard to call his supervisor? What would it have hurt?

asking for a supervisor is essentially questioning that cops authority and for that, someone is getting tased/shot/arrested...
