Popeye's Chicken Sandwich (1 Viewer)

see, this seems so foreign to me as a customer -

I don't want to pay for food that's not good. The "service" will get me to come back to a place with good food. But good service isn't going to get me to come back for meh or bad food. And really good food will get me to come back even if service isn't good.

I can't think of one time, ever, where I've been at a restaurant and eaten a totally underwhelming or bad meal and felt satisfied because the waiter was nice and the place was clean. Much less, to go back.

But I can think of a lot of times when I've eaten at a dirty hole in the wall with crappy service and loved the food. And gone back.

Maybe Chick-Fil-A has stumbled on something that people want, then. Serve mediocre chicken but be really nice while doing it and people will come back. And they clearly do.

I am clearly not their target demographic.

My grandmother would slap the hell outta me. Make me kneel on rice for the slightest provocation. But I kept going back to her house... because that rice dressing, man. Damn.

People didn't like the Soup Nazi's service and yet they kept going back. Service is secondary, good food is the number one priority.

Found one in Kenosha WI. Line was insane. Manager was a tool. He told me "you're gonna have to wait." I said how long? He responded with, and I quote, "as long as it takes. We have lines around the block." I just wanted an estimate on time lol. I will eat it when I get back to work...

As long as it takes is code for I have no damn clue.

Am I making this up, or did Popeyes use to have a lot of thematic tie-in with the Popeye cartoon? Like were there Popeye decorations and stuff up in the restaurants?

You are not making it up, I have a Popeye's drinking glass with Olive Oil and Popeye on it.

I know CFA has gotten a lot of flack for being meh, but tbh, I've eaten CFA off and on since the 80s, and I can't remember ever getting a bad meal. I've had a few incorrect orders before, but I've always thought the quality of the food was a step above all of the other fast food choices, save Popeye's, :hihi:.

I tend to order the club with the fried (they call it breaded :freak7: ) chicken breast. I like the multi-grain bun better than the plain ones, and with bacon and pepper jack, it's always been really good. I also go with the tenders when I'm not in the mood for a sandwich.

I like Popeye's better, but they tend to cost a bit more when you add the sides than other fast food options. And their service has always been sporadic for as long as I can remember.

There's room for both, but I end up choosing CFA more often here because of price and service.

Copeland's is starting to sell the same Popeye's chicken sandwich.

Does anybody know if it is the same? I know fast food and restaurant quality and taste can be different.

And can anybody tell me did lawsuits or guns get your sandwich faster? Asking for a very hungry and busy friend.

I've noticed a lot of chicken sandwiches popping up in my facebook feed from the local restaurants here that look amazing.

I'm guessing theirs are NOT $3.99 though.

McDonald's enters the fray - and they wisely ignore their McChicken
===========================================

As far as the fast food world is concerned, 2019 has been the year of the chicken. (Take that, so-called "Year of the Pig.") Back in May, over 2 million Twitter users convinced Wendy's to bring back spicy nuggets.

In June, Chick-fil-A made headlines by officially claiming the title of America's third largest fast food chain in terms of sales. And more recently, people have been losing their minds over Popeyes chicken sandwich.

Meanwhile, over the summer, McDonald's franchisees, apparently feeling left behind, flat out demanded the chain add an awesome new chicken sandwich. Well, today, McDonald's announced it will be launching a new chicken sandwich nationwide — though whether it will appease the public appetite is yet to be determined.

Arriving for a limited time starting on September 11 is the new Spicy BBQ Chicken Sandwich — as well as its non-bunned counterpart, Spicy BBQ Glazed Tenders.

The sandwich is described as featuring "our classic Buttermilk Crispy fillet made with all-white meat and served on a sesame seed bun with slivered onions, pickles and topped with that same smoky, sweet, with medium heat Spicy BBQ glaze." ..................................

So they threw some spicy McRib sauce on a chicken patty. Can't wait.
