Potential defensive roster going into next season... (1 Viewer)

I doubt mingo will be there or ansah or jordan or jones. I think we will have to choose between guys like Xavier Rhodes Vacarro and Tavon Austin and won't have an option to trade down

Who will take them ahead of us? There are 2 teams looking at pass rushers in front of us now that the Browns signed Kruger. We have the Jags at the 2 spot and possibly Jets although they need a whole new team. The only other team that might need an OLB is the Chargers but they have needs all along their o-line and just drafted Melvin Ingram last year.

We are taking a pass rusher.

Still dont get why you guys switched to 3-4....dont you need like a really good OLB Passhrusher(s) to make that D work? Who is your D.Ware/Mario Willaims/Clay Matthews/Von Miller/Terrel Suggs type rusher?
Don't tell me its some rookie you guys hope to get and hope pans out:covri:
the 3-4 does not work unless you have a good passrusher, just look at San Diego

EDIT: NVM just finding out you guys got a new D-coordinator and had no choice to switch

EDIT2: and I am not hating at all, just trying to give you guys a taste of reality

With draft pick, Galette, Wilson, and potentially Butler, we'd have four linebackers who can get after the quarterback.

As a whole, the defensive personnel we have is much more suited for a 3-4 because it enables us to get our young talent on the field and it utilizes the strengths of our LB group. Additionally, the role of the DL in a 3-4 and 4-3 transitions from an attacking role to a more supplementary role, complimenting the potential pass rushing ability of our linebackers well and negating the lack of a pass rush specialist on the line. Granted, the defensive rotation is an unfinished product (need to see what goes down in FA and draft), our staff has confidence, given our current personnel and coaching, that we can make a smooth transition into the 3-4 sooner, rather than later.

LDE: Jordan
DT: Bunkley
RDE: Hicks
LOLB:Galette
LILB: Vilma
RILB: Lofton
ROLB: Victor Butler
LCB: Lewis
RCB: Xavier Rhodes
FS: AQ
SS: Bush (need one that can cover)

Greer nickel corner

My Dream starters , two big jamming corners and lots of rushers on the field

I don't know if it will be good or bad but I have very little doubt that Will Smith will be starting at DE opposite Jordan, Hicks will back up the DE and NT.

I'm not sure who starts, but i'm guessing that besides Jordan will be in even 65% of the snaps. Which is why I wasn't today when Smith stayed I guess. I see a lot of subs in and out. So Hicks should get just as much time

I just don't see a way they keep Hicks off the field. I don't have access to the stats anymore but it was nearly a 3rd of the time and all he did was make plays. And this is some rookie who every expert said needed a few years to develop. I'm looking forward to a Cam Jordan like jump from him in his 2nd year and at 6'5 he's not easy to throw over either.

I want tez wilson on the inside instead of hawthorne, he wll give us some much needed athleticism

I was hoping for this aswell as a Hawthorne trade. But the restructuring of Hawthorne's contract indicates that he's in the team's future plans. So where would we put him? Wilson prolly won't start over him n he surely isn't starting over Lofton. I guess we could still see Wilson on the inside in nickel situations

Lions will probably jump on Ansah with Avril gone and play him at DE.
Jags had a league worse 20 sacks and could take Jordan #2.
Jets could take Mingo.

Jones has the potential to fall but if he does it's likely he was taken off a lot of teams first round board and maybe another Tampa Bay DE situation (forgot his name). Lance Johnson could fall. I'm preparing for us to take Lance, Vacarro or Austin. I'm sticking to that.

I would like to see White play a little FS this year. Just to see what he's got.
