What's the deal with Anthony? Has he been benched or just injured all this time.

What did it cost us?

An overpaid tight end, that doesn't block, and became a prima donna once he got his 40 million.

Unger was the biggest piece of that trade, and is having a historically great season, if Anthony turns the switch on that's lagniappe. Otherwise it's a missed late first round draft pick. We still win that deal even if it was straight up Graham for Unger.

He was the opposite side line backer. His responsibility on that play was not to cover the TE and there was no corner or safety in the screen so how you think that was on the opposite side LB is beyond me.

He may be dumb as a rock, but that play isn't proof.

You had 5 Saints chasing Cam, situational football says back up and cover who Cam may throw to. Assignments are out the window at that point. Hanging out in the middle watching the play did nothing.

1st round picks are highly prized commodities, they don't get thrown into trades as lagniappe. The trade was Jimmy for Unger and a 1st round pick. The Saints wouldn't have done the trade if it was Jimmy for Unger straight up. They wanted that 1st round pick to help fix the defense.

Everybody is comparing Graham's performance with the Seahawks to Unger's performance with the Saints and declaring we won the trade. That is not a good comparison. You have to use Graham's performance with the Saints as the baseline comparison. Jimmy was so much better in the Saints offense than in Seattle. He was an absolute monster for the Saints, and you can't say it was all Drew either because Fleener has not come close to Graham like production.

For the sake of argument, what if that trade never happened and we signed a free agent like Alec Mack instead of paying Fleener. Then you'd have Mack and Graham instead of Unger, Fleener, and Anthony.

Stephone is Mark Fields 2.0 . I hope he's still here when it clicks .

You are judging this play wrong. Don't watch from end to start.
Football is not played that way. We are all smarter if we would have know the outcome before we start something

First... we all know that Cam is a running QB.
As a free LB do you have to take this into account.

Now let's check what happend.

1)
Cam is not pressured directly also thanks to the playaction with delayed route release from the elligble receivers.
That forced the whole defense to play run first.

2)Cam escaped the pressue and there was no outside contain anymore as Crawley rushed and felt to the ground and the rest was still stuck up inside

3)
Anthony sees that and moves up 2 steps to make sure he can stop Cam when he goes for the endzone.
No receiving threat at this time as both Panthers felt to the ground and Mauti was behind him.

4)
Next 1/2 second.
Cam slows down and Stubar picks up a good contain angle again.
Anthony stops his forward movement as he sees that contain is taking care of and plays a kind of zone pass defense to take away the bullet pass (thinging that Mauti is still behind him)

5) Mauti ignores the deep zone and goes for a kill shoot towards Cam

6) Cam can't throw a rocket to his receivers as Anthony is in the way and loops it instead.

7) TD as nobody covered the deep zone.

And you blame this play purely on him?

One may or may not agree with Slim - but there's no reason to insult him.

I don't agree with him, but he took the time to post a clip. Whether it backs up his assertion or not.

If Wednesday was not just a veterans day of rest for Ellerbe Payton really needs to consider going in a different direction. I like Ellerbe a lot when he is on the field and he does add speed and instincts to the defense, but the guy has shown over two years with us that he cannot stay on the field. IR needs to be the decision and then we can see once again whether a long offseason can heal his persistent injuries. Next year, if he can't stay healthy from day one, he needs to be released.
