Predict our Week 1 starting Left Tackle (1 Viewer)

I think Brown and jones will be our tackles to start and if they get injured Steif and draft pick will come in.

I wish it could be McKinnie - he's the best stopgap option available at this point.

2 problems with the theory that we're getting him:
1. We haven't had him in for an interview yet (which could mean a number of things)
2. The 2 million he'd probably demand would eat up 66% of our cap wiggle space.

The most sensible thing to do is to pick up max starks if the steelers don't resign him - they pay him dirt cheap - less than 1 mil on a 1 year deal. Started every game last year.

Who's that guy we brought in off the street last year? Bryce Harris? He got props from Brees before getting hurt. That guy. Seriously.

This is Sean Paytons offense. We don't need stop gap players to make it work. You give Payton decent to good talent at any position and he'll make it work, and work well.

Marcel Jones? For real OP? You see an OT, and you assume that he can play either side, but that's just not how it works. He is an RT/OG. He wouldn't do well on the left side because his feet aren't quick enough.

Charles Brown is the favorite right now, even if we draft an LT or sign a FA LT. Payton wants him to take over. We drafted him in the 2nd because he has pro bowl potential, but he needs to prove health and consistency. SP will have an insurance plan, but don't expect him to start unless Brown gets injured.

people thought the same thing in 06 about Montrae Holland and Nesbit. Before we know it, Evans snatched the starting RG title.

Signing McKinnie (or another proven FA LOT) is the most important thing we can do right now.

You plug holes with FAs and use the draft to push or backup existing starters.

We can't assume Loomis will get the next star OL in the 4th round, again. For every Nicks there is a ... Charles Brown. Who (let's face it) stinks. And we can't leave Brees unprotected.
