I can see this as a possibility.

Drew will return for the Falcons game after our bye week. We will be 4-4 at this point. And the only division game we would have played will be the Bucs at home, and win.

Brees comes back and we win the division. Not likely to be a 1 or 2 seed. But due to Brees time off Brees will not have the wear and tear of a full season and will be in prime form for the playoffs and Super Bowl.

We beat the Rams in LA on the way to the Super Bowl.

I still think the Saints win the division, but I’m not confident predicting anything more at this point.

If Drew can return soon enough and it’s realistic he can resume playing at a high level, then I hope the team can scratch out some wins and set the table for him to go on a run.

Otherwise...

I don’t normally think ahead to the draft, but if ever the Saints were going to have a strong shot at drafting a successor, 2019 could be setting up as that opportunity.
