TMZ is saying affirmatively that it is him. Authorities are saying that they are notifying next of kin, so they aren't going to name the decedent until that happens.

TMZ must have an independent source (someone there who is confirming) but they can't say who that is. Or TMZ is winging this, but I think they're past that at this point - at least when it comes to a death of a major figure.

I suspect it is true.

I missed that tour. And I never saw him live - always premised myself that I would. Amazing talent. Songwriter, singer, etc. but just a ripping guitar player, so many people don't even think about that.

I can't believe I will never get that chance. RIP. They broke the mold on that guy.
