So how do I know they hate him? Well I did one of my fun little studies. I looked at our numbers and saw how much a defensive tackle rushed the quarterback. Then I looked at how much pressure he got. And you know what I saw in Rogers? A guy who in 272 pass rushes got to the quarterback for three sacks, 12 hits and 15 further pressures. That kind of ratio was third best among all defensive tackles who played more than 200 snaps.

Better than Haloti Ngata. Better than Kevin Williams. Heck it was even better than my man crush Kyle Williams.

I’m going to drop an “E” bomb: those are “Elite” numbers, and Rogers continues to be an elite pass rusher.

He’ll manhandle centers in one on one match ups, no doubt. The amount of times he did it this year in a limited role tells us that (if you don’t believe me ask Jonathan Goodwin or the Saints, or Jeff Faine of Tampa what they think). But he’ll also struggle to cope with being double teamed, and it can breed an ill-disciplined side of his game that sees him lose leverage when he tries getting inside.

Want to know what I’d do with him? I’d plump him in a four-man line, and let him use that uncanny burst and ridiculous power. Guys like Rogers aren’t easy to find, and you want to maximize that skill set on every down. You don’t want to save him for a situational role when he can have such a big impact all game long and in every phase.

I know this phrase is overused on this board, but "Make it happen Loomis!" I'd LOVE to have the MONSTER on our team.

If we could sign Rogers and draft an impact pass rushing defensive end our defense could be truly special

I just hope he realizes his best fit is as a NT for a 43 defense, plus his career will probably last longer.

This^

He's in a uniquely powerful position being the only really good player able to sign a contract right now with FA influx. He is going to cash in. I hope we can get involved, but some team [the new 3-4 HOU] is going to over pay for him.

I'm 100% sure that Loomis/Payton/Williams know every possitive and negative about this guy. I'm also sure they know exactly what he's worth, and exactly how much they're willing to spend for him.

I'd love to have a great compliment to Ellis, but I won't be disappointed if Loomis and Company pass on him either. They know a lot more than I do about what the guy is worth.

GW has a degree in psychology. He's said many times that his specialty is not x's and o's but dealing with difficult personalities and motivation tactics.

Shuan rogers+Kenrick & sedrick ellis....Please god i want this so bad!

If he wants to be on a winning team he can't do much better than the Saints! (Man, I LOVE being able to say that!!!) More money < SB Ring for him?

:9:

Drooling:

and this is possible and obtainable scenario being that
Rogers is coming in for a visit and Kenrick is likely to go in rounds 2-4.
Heck, we'd still have the 1st Rounder open and more than likely the second
rounder too.

Well, even though I have my reservations about Rogers, if the Saints think they can work with him and can manage to get Kendrick Ellis to boot, I'd be thrilled because we'll have backed our play by getting the next great DT playmaker to boot and give us a sick DT rotation.

Rogers has been in the league 10 years, he got his big paycheck when he left Det. to go to Cleveland. This will more than likely be his last contract and if he wants a ring, then he's looking at Indy, NE, GB or the Saints. We usually make one big splash in FA and either Rogers or the DT from the Giants will probably be it. That leaves us looking for DE, OLB, SS, RB, and OL which we can address also in FA with a young ascending player and with a compensatory draft pick, we could also address those needs in the draft.
