Starting this Sunday, October 24th, people with 504 area codes will need to start using the area code for all calls, because the FCC is implementing a 988 shortcut dial for the suicide prevention hotline. So all area codes that have numbers with the 988 exchange will be affected (it's actually a bunch - details here: https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/ten-digit-dialing, and here is the full list: https://nationalnanpa.com/transitio...r_988/docs/NPAsRequiredtoTransitionto10DD.pdf). Obviously, most of us are on cell phones, but if you don't have the area code programmed in, you will need to edit your contacts.

Somebody should write an app that will let you tell it the area code you want to add and just add it to any seven digit contact.

You could export and easily do it in Excel.
