Question for Catholics (Catholic Church Crisis) (3 Viewers)

I mean still. You have to have some confidence to think you can handle two at once, even if you are paying for it. Have to get value for your money.

Thats what viagra was invented for lol.

As to the value...its all relative in Pearl River ;)

How many bad priests do we have? They keep on adding to the list! The Archbishop tells us not to worry he has it all under control?

I haven’t been keeping track of exactly who needs to hear this because there’s so much back and forth, bickering, and whataboutism, so I’d just like to remind you of two facts:

1. In 2020 A.D., the year in which we all live, violent religiously motivated atrocities are almost exclusively commited by muslims. Sorry.

2. A catholic priest is drastically more likely to be a child rapist than someone who isn’t a catholic priest. Sorry.

Really? You thought he might be into that kind of thing? Do you think all timid people who are unsure of themselves when speaking are like that?

I think he was clued when he noticed the priest's dog collar was indeed a dog collar :hihi:

Regarding number 2.. I'm not sure that's accurate. Sadly, child abuse is rampant in the world, and in this country. Teachers, parents, step parents, trusted family members, neighbors, etc.

It's an ugly truth.

Is the solution to allow priests to get married? Let them have families? Or won’t help at all?

Number 2 is incorrect. The data we have suggests, unfortunately, that the rate of that behavior is about identical with that of the broader population. You just don't hear about all the rest on the nightly news.

The data says it’s even? Then that’s proof it’s DEFINATELY worse in the catholic church.

If the data says it’s about even, that means in actuality it’s much worse in the church, since the church is a centuries-old global institution with billions of dollars and thousands of people working as hard as they can to cover up all the rape.

Best they can do is to get it statistically even?

That's actually not proof of anything but conjecture on your part. That said, it's not offered as a justification. It's just a fact. And yes, financial and sexual corruption and abuse are abhorrent, particularly when found in the Church.

If the “data” (that you brought up!) says that the following two groups are guilty of rape at the same rate, and those two groups are:

1. People who have the entire power and financing of the catholic church at their disposal to assisst in hiding their rape

and

2. People who don’t

...then which group do you think ACTUALLY rapes more?

Any negative feelings you avoid by protecting yourself from the truth of this issue aren’t worth the mental contortions you have to make to avoid them.

Who are you defending? You saying the victims are liars? Maybe I just read it wrong?

You're barking up the wrong tree my friend. I'm just stating a fact as the data would currently support. You can surmise as much as you like and it's probably deserved on the part of the Church for the crimes and sins that have and continue to be facilitated. But I'm far beyond protecting myself from anything in this regard. I'm just trying to have a reasonable exchange of ideas. And a priest is not any more likely to abuse your child than your uncle, or the teacher at the grade school for that matter. It's just the truth of the thing. We live in a depraved world.
