Raiders HC Antonio Pierce liked IG post saying Davante Adams played his last down in Vegas (3 Viewers)

If the Saints took a 3rd round flier on him, and don’t change his contract, and he walks again in 2025 free agency for a big contract elsewhere, I believe the Saints could get a 3rd Round comp pick for him.
That would make him a 1 year rental for his $$$$ only.
You would have to restructure his deal to void. But it's possible.

It’s kinda exciting to think about, but Adams isn’t the guy he was 6 years ago. He’s 32. You’re not giving a 2nd round pick for him, especially when your 35 yo DE can’t even get a hurry, your 32 yo FS is getting hurt, your 34 yo LBer just missed a game, your 34 yo joker is struggling to stay on the field…think we might be gun shy given the current situation

If there was an aging yet pro bowl caliber OL available to trade for, and the perceived asking price was a 3rd rounder then I think we’d all agree that would be more beneficial to the teams success than Adams, however, there isn’t. So what are you talking about?
I'm talking about exactly what I said in my post. It's not that hard to follow. You don't have to just buy whatever is available, leave him on the shelf for someone else to regret signing and trading for.

I'm about 70% sure he will be a Saint.

Dennis Allen hinted at us needing another weapon. He actually said it out right...

So I expect Dennis Allen to push for a trade.

Yeah, I think he's still got a couple solid years in him and he would be an upgrade for us as a #2 WR, but the Raiders would need to eat a lot of that contract and take in the range of a 4th or 5th round pick for me to do it. And even then only if we aren't tied to significant guaranteed money after this year.
I think but I'm not sure that 25 and 26 are not guaranteed. If we are 6-3 after the last weekend before the trade deadline I would do a 3rd for Adams if LV ate most of his 24 salary. With the easier part of our schedule remaining it would give us a boost to get us in the playoffs and after. Then we either cut him or work out a new contract for 25 and beyond

I don't disagree, but his contract is absurdly large. I assume you agree that would have to be reworked to get him on the team. We may not have a ton invested in the WR position right now but overall cap space is still limited.
The question is how much would he cost this yr? The compensation we would send LV would be determine how much of his 24 salary they would eat. I am pretty sure that his 25 and 26 contract is not guaranteed, so we could cut him and work out a new long term contract.

He can't walk in 25 , his contract goes through 26, We would have to cut him which we would probably do because his 25 and 26 #'s are stupidly high

Check that post that has Ross Jackson talking about how to make the money work. All of the details are in there. Think it’s in another thread though
Found it

Well Adams has played every game the past 3 years. I think he’s past any injuries you may be thinking of
Maw paw and all y’all know if he becomes a Saint he will very soon after need groin leg arm and neck amputations and be out until 2027.

Not being snarky but why in the world would you sign a 32 year old receiver to a long term deal???

Here’s another interesting note…Adams worked with our WR coach, Keith Williams, in the off-season.

There’s not a doubt in my mind that the subject of Davante Adams is a hot topic down on Airline Dr. right now. And I’d also imagine Derek Carr is in the ear of the powers that be.

He is under contract for 2025 and 2026. So there would be no comp pick if he where to be cut after this year.

I wouldn’t hesitate to give them a second round pick…our 2023 second round pick.

Foskey, coach wants to see you in his office. Bring your playbook with you.
