New Orleans has a reputation for making it loud for visiting football teams.

Last week, when the hometown Saints hosted the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Divisional Round game, members of the media said the press box was shaking during the game.

Not that Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Robert Woods is concerned about the noise or the home field crowd. He says it won’t be a problem for his team in the NFC Championship Game.

“The crowd shouldn’t have an impact, and it won’t have an impact,” Woods said this week.

That’s a bold claim for any player going into the Superdome, an atmosphere whose reputation for noise forced the Eagles into a few false starts and timeouts last Sunday.

During that game, a meter in the stadium recorded the noise as reaching up to 130 decibels.

For comparison, experts in the field say that minor hearing loss can occur in people exposed to 110 decibels over the course of one minute. ...
