I've read speculation that it may have more to do with violating NFL exclusive sponsorship contracts with Gillette than anything else. Who knows.

It sounds more like a conflict of interests issue, advertising a product for a company that not only is not paying advertising dollars to the NFL, it competes against and NFL sponsor, and the NFL trying to nip that in the butt before it gets out of hand.
