Rapoport: Derek Carr avoided serious injury but could miss time; Carr has AC joint sprain (Sports Med Dr Jesse Morse predicts 1 - 4 wks) (1 Viewer)

People saying now the carr might only miss 1week…2 max. So news keeps getting better.
Who are those people? My prediction is 1 to 2 games. It didn't look as bad as I thought it would be. A lot of weight was on his shoulder correct but he didn't hyper extend the shoulder.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if it's a 1-2 week injury. I played with it after two weeks but wore a restrictive brace and it wasn't all the way right for more than a month. And that was on my off shoulder as a position player. I can't imagine a pro QB like Carr, even with the best treatment, will be loading his throwing shoulder and throwing full tilt in two weeks. Hope I'm wrong, but that would be miraculous...

Carr hasn't been flawless with his decision making either. He had a TD to Thomas in the end zone and threw it to Olave instead. Last week, he had a wide open RB as his safety valve and instead threw an interception. All of his interceptions have been bad decisions. Having said that, he's been more consistent in driving us down the field. We need to do better in protecting whoever is back there. We have a Super Bowl caliber defense and the OL is going to waste it. Having said all of this, watch everything get fixed next year when we host and win the Super Bowl.

I think he is getting impatient and not just taking what is there. He needs to understand It is OK to punt and try again next time.

Nah, Jameis would have to be flawless in passer rating and converting most drives into TDs for him remaining the starter to be a thought. We aren’t sitting a 40M QB on the bench.

Carr hasn’t played poorly for his job to be questioned. He can work on getting the ball out quicker sometimes, but he’s been accurate and makes the throws. Just need more TDs and that’s a variety of factors with run game, blocking and playcalling. He moves the ball down the field at ease when he has average protection.
I don’t disagree with the overall notion, but Carr has not played well enough where he would not be benched is Jameis really did somehow play great, assuming Carr is out 3-6 games and not 1-2. He has a mere 3 TD passes and 2 ints and is ranked 21st in QB ratings, nearing the bottom 1/3 of NFL QBs.

To be clear, I view this as an indictment of or terrible O-line and the play calling / game planning not adjusting to it. Therefore, sad to say, Jameis is not likely going to have any better success. It will likely look like vintage Jameis with perhaps a few more TDs, to go along with more ints. I like both guys. Heck I even liked Andy Dalton. There is a reason all three very serviceable to very good QBs have looked very pedestrian here….

Penning dirty hit job failed last week so the dirty scum just order up a driver's side sucker punch the next. Then the hand in hand klinks go all schultze and it goes unpunished. Not the first offense it isn't. Six million bucks is chump change in today's game. It's time for a rebuild.

It wouold also be stupid .

I want our new highly paid QB to take as much time as he needs (within reason) to fully heal and be 100%.. no need to rush back out there after just the third week of the season .. so what i mean is id be fine with him missing 3 or 4 games then coming back good as new, as opposed to him merely “ok to go” week after next or something .

I also remember Brooks laboring through a shoulder injury late in 2002 when we had our swoon to miss the playoffs. Brooks as flawed as he was, had a decent overall season for much of 2002. But playing hurt hurt the team (and I don't blame Brooks for this...if he says he can't go everyone says he's soft...it's the coach's job to say "Son, I respect your heart but you're not helping yourself or the team by going out there like this.")

Yea, sure seems like 3-4 weeks will be the earliest he returns.
