Reacher: Amazon's Jack Reacher series (2 Viewers)

It's amazing how good a tv show or movie can be when they stick to the written material. It's defies logic that studios will take something that was obviously well loved enough that people wanted to see it turned into a show/movie, and then...change it. WHY????? 99% of the time doing this dooms the project, but it keeps happening. Happy they decided to stay faithful. Wife and I both really liked the show.

Hopefully they stay the course and season two doesn’t jump to the 7th book in the series or do a weird mashup of books 4 and 8

Haven’t read the Reacher series just talking a general sense

I don’t know why nobody has pointed out that these books are dreck. Simple and formulaic. Brain candy.

That said, I’ve read all of them (except the short stories). I guess that says something about my literary (ahem) taste. They are entertaining and fu, as is the character. And he is NOT Tom Cruise.

The show is really well done. I really don’t think it matters which book they do next - it will still be good. Hopefully Roscoe will be in the next one too, but it seems unlikely.

Feel the same way about Stephen King and Neil Gaiman especially. Trying not to get my hopes up over the sandman, but the acting choices look fantastic and I think Gaiman is more involved with this project than previous ones

How dare you impinge upon the quality of my preferred literature! OK, you are probably right. But I tend to read a lot and the books are entertaining. Same with Mitch Rapp.

Speaking of . . . Don't know how many of you read The Gray Man series, but there is supposed to be a movie soon.

I read those too. :covri:

The Reacher books always have a few educational tidbits, what did I learn today moments. Love the Gray Man, Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans in the upcoming movie holds some hope. The next best book series for me is the Peter Ash series by Nick Petrie. He's only written 7 so far, but all have been excellent. Lee Child says his thinks Peter Ash is the most comparable to Jack Reacher, but I think only in his problem solving and drifting. Dude is a pretty messed up vet in comparison.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm always looking for something else to read. Another Reacher-like character is Puller, by Baldacci.

Also, John Gilstrap (Jonathan Grave books - another good brain candy series) has a new series out - I think the protaganist is Victoria Emerson. It's a little different - post nuclear war (think Alas Babylon, or similar). Anyway, the second one drops on 2/22. It's not terrible.

Looked it up - first one is Crimson Phoenix, new one is Blue Fire.

Thanks! I'm a sucker for good post apocalyptic books, too.

I keep a list of my go to authors and periodically search for new books. Been a struggle lately. Been re-reading a few things.

Lee Child just posted on Facebook that filming for season 2 will begin this fall, based on the book "Bad Luck and Trouble"

"From a helicopter high above the California desert, a man is sent free-falling into the night. On the streets of Portland, Jack Reacher is pulled out of his wandering life and plunged into the heart of a conspiracy that is killing old friends...and the people he once trusted with his life." -- Back cover synopsis.

Fantastic show. Can't wait until season 2
