Reason for Freddie MAC on IR: Cundiff Brought Back (1 Viewer)

He is trading field position for a few extra return blocking seconds. I see nothing wrong with it and I wish Freddie the best. Hope he is with us next year.

According to ESPN.com and SCOUTS, Inc. there was no injury and he was simply placed there so he can still be on the sidelines but we can still get Cundiff.

Where is the link saying that? I have been looking for some kind of official (semi) confirmation that this really is the reason and not just reasonable specualtion.

Cundiff is critical for kickoffs and long field goals. And if we have to play Chicago, it will be critical to kick long to Hester, hopefully getting a touchback or 2.

Freddy,

Thanx for the good work this year...you must have schooled the youngsters good enough that they'll be okay on their own.

That's exactly why he's on the IR. If not placed on IR, he would have to be cut. This way, he's still part of the team and can be on the sideline as the leader that he is and also receive any accolades forthcoming.

Exactly, because Freddy deserves any accolades forthcoming....one game at a time.

I agree! This is a way of rewarding Freddie for everything he has done. He is still on the team and gets whatever is coming our way.

A note to those stragglers who still insist that Benson is a miser and Loomis a bean-counter: this way Freddie also gets paid and can get playoff shares.

As of late, the Beerman has had some success returning the ball. I have to believe that Freddie had something to do with this. I agree that the Saints need Cundiff, but surely they could have let go of the recently activated end they just activated before the Carolina game. I think we will miss Freddie on Saturday night on the one kickoff return the Saints have.

It's a shame that he won't be on the field, but it's great that he is still on the sidelines. I completely understand the need for a deep kick off especially against Chicago, but I think Freddie is more important that Cundiff. Our ST have been rather good against the KO. Gleason , Clark and Lewis are getting some great tackles and Freddie has been great leading the way for Lewis.

Does this mean that Freddie CAN play, but won't play?
