METAIRIE — Tests show no major damage to New Orleans Saints rookie wide receiver Marques Colston’s injured left ankle and he’s day-to-day, coach Sean Payton said at his weekly news conference Monday.
Payton added that the ankle, injured on the Saints’ third offensive play in a 31-16 loss to Cincinnati on Sunday in the Superdome, will be re-evaluated when the team returns to practice Wednesday. Colston’s status for this week’s game at Atlanta won’t be known until later in the week.
The same is true of three other players injured against the Bengals — wide receiver Terrance Copper (ankle), cornerback Fred Thomas (hamstring) and running back Aaron Stecker (ankle).
