New Orleans Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis joked during his pre-draft press conference Tuesday how he wished the Saints held the 32nd pick in the first round signifying the Saints were coming off a Super Bowl-winning season. Instead, the Saints are less than halfway to No. 32 as the team enters Thursday night's NFL draft with the 15th overall selection.

Loomis said this year's draft prospects are a bit more unusual than in most years as the Saints don't have 32 players graded as first-round picks. So the Saints likely feel they will draft a first-round talent with their first-round pick

"I think being in the middle of the first round is a good spot," Loomis said. "It gives you some flexibility, and yet you know you are going to have the opportunity to select a good player if we just sit tight, somebody that we have confidence in, that can come in and help us immediately as well as be a good player long term for us."
