I'm not a big gamer, but it sounds like a good way to test out games before you.decide to spend $50 on it only to find out its terrible.

I haven't tried it yet. But I would only use it to see if I wanted to rent the game from Gamefly, or if it was a game I knew I would just beat in a few days and return it. Other than that it would end up being a waste of money.

you can rent a game from Redbox, beat it and return in the time it takes for Gamefly to receive your rental and send you a new one

$2/day to beat these single player games is much better than paying $60 for them... the online multiplayer games - definitely worth buying vs renting.

Yeah that's what I was talking about. That would be one of the rare times I would think about using it. I was thinking about renting Halo 4 because I know I would beat it in about 2 days, could care less about the multiplayer, and I would return it spending about $4-$6 on a game I would never spend $60 for.

i think what i am finding is that Gamelfy is the waste of money

you probably have a minimum of 10-12 days per month that you don't have a game in your possession....that brings the cost to about $1 per day of actual usage...

then if a game sucks, you have to send it back and wait for the next one...

if only they had the turnaround that Netflix had

Never tried Gamefly. I usually get a new DVD in two days on Netflix.

I wonder if there could be an improvement if Netflix ever bought out Gamefly. I'd think 2 days would be about the best you could get. 1 day to get back to gamefly/netflix, process immediately, mail out, get it next day.

like i said, 5 days is a good turnaround...and i have had gamefly for at least 7 years it seems

To me the Redbox model for renting games is going to hurt Gamefly. I use to be a member of Gamefly but it would take forever to get your hands on a new release if you were late to the party in reserving it.

I personally have rented many games from redbox, I think it is a excellent model to "try before buy" which of course Microsoft and Sony hates.

They of course want you to buy the game and cut out people like Gamefly, Redbox, and Gamestop.

The same goes for pre-ordering games, it took me a while to learn, but I did.

Even big title games, I usually wait a few weeks or a month before getting it, and read all the reviews I can.

Just me though.

My problem with Redbox is that I'd forget to take the game back and end up paying just as much to rent it as I would to buy it. I purchased Dishonored used for like $40 the other day and beat it in 2 days. I should have just taken it back since GameStop gives you 7 days to return a used game, but...it's still sitting on my dresser.

I just looked at Redbox in my area. Only had 4 games for PS3. Only one or two were interesting.
