One of the memories of Reggie Bush’s time with the New Orleans Saints that still sticks out is right before the team’s NFC Divisional Round playoff game against the Arizona Cardinals.
The running back came out of the tunnel with the team, holding up a black baseball bat, creating an image that helped represent the Saints’ eventual run to a Super Bowl title.
As he was being inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame a decade later, Bush explained the decision to bring the bat out.
“True story,” he said. “Every year, Coach has the bat game. When Coach hands out a bat, he picks out a game, and we have to be the most physical team on that football field. We want to be the team that we start fast, and we’re the most physical team in every aspect of the game.
