Nothing "OMG newsworthy" but still a nice gesture of him to mention us while trying to talk up Detroit.

“I think I kind of already knew that, though, just by being out here. Obviously it’s a great sports town — it was one of the reasons I was excited to come here. In certain cities, football just means more.

“For example, playing in New Orleans, no matter what, those fans always showed up. Even throughout the bad times. They were always in support and they were always there and it was always a football-first town.

“That’s the same kind of vibe I get here in Detroit. It’s a football-first town and no matter what – what I’ve heard – the fans are always going to be there to support the team through the tough times.”

Detroit is a hockey town first and foremost. The Red Wings get that kind of support. The other 3 teams are fair weather fans only.

Yeah, but jeez to be fair, any Detriot fan younger than 70 has gone through worse than we have even before 2009. At least we had the Mora years. Even Browns fans had the late '80s to feel good about. The Lions? Other than a couple of years here or there when Barry Sanders (and some non-descript QB) snuck them into the playoffs, it's been rough for them. Besides, wasn't one of their playoff wins a drubbing of the Cowboys? Gotta love 'em for that.

Let's be fair here guys, in the pre and post Mora eras, up to about 2000 or so, it's not like the Dome was packed every Sunday. And we did start the paper bag on the head thing.

Sure, now we fill the stadium every Sunday and rock the house, but those who ignore the past are doomed to repeat it.

Red thumb away.

Look, I'm ALL FOR REGGIE! He came into a TEAM as Mr.Football EVERYTHING not knowing about our Coach ( heck, none of us knew anything about Our Own TEAM at that time) but you just knew he must have had some reservations, yet, he played well, did everything which was asked of him, took his turns with the rock, got blown up many times, came in here not knowing if the QB would even be able to throw the ball at all............When I think about Reggie's situation and then his unselfishness and his effort and then to WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP! Gonna always have love for #25 (unless he's up against us) for he did his part even if he couldn't put it all together as he did in college, few players do! So you GEAUX REGGIE! Hope you find a good home there and BTW: Enjoy those Detroit winters!

Pro hockey is still around?

How could you not know? ESPN tries to force-feed it to you every day...

"And tonight's #1 TOP PLAY........ Alexendrei Dmitriov Dosmonovic shoots the puck through 5 defenders, bouncing off his own teammates car keys, and deflecting of the goalie's iPod armband and into the net TO FORCE A THIRD OVERTIIIIIIIIIIMMMMMEEEE!!!"

That sounds pretty exciting. Particularly compared to a round of golf or a baseball game.

Yeah, Im far from a hockey fan, but their playoffs do a lot more for me than the world series does

A close post season hockey game can be really exciting.
