After the Tampa game we were flying high...the Ravens game was a faint memory. Then we went to PB and they were a down team going nowhere riddled by the turnover bug. The thought being they were a super bowl team less all the turnovers.

What has happened since then...they are 2-0 & +2 in turnovers in the last 2 games. We are 0-2 and -6. Then follows all the negativity & 2nd guessing usually reserved for message boards of our recent opponents.

We are essentially the same team as when we had super bowl asperations...although somewhat optomistic.

My point.....we are in our little slump now which is self inflicted. Our team has the option to correct the problems which are plenty fixable & I'm confident we will settle into a more balanced turnover situation. It would be much worse if we had more wholesale problems to correct.

Look at any playoff contender and I bet you can find some part of the season...if not now...that they are experiencing their little slump. JAX losing to Houston....Seattle losing to SF...Philly losing McNabb....Carolina getting thumped by Dallas....CHI losing to MIA...how bout Cincy's loss to SD

Keep perspective & keep the faith!!

As hard as it was to watch us killing ourselves on sunday, Ive already forgotten about it and am moving on to ATL. Now all we have to do is be the team we have been all season with the exception of the last two weeks.

You make some valid points. Actually, when I first read the thread title, I figured you were talking about the Steelers from last year. Remember when they had lost 3 in a row to fall to 7-5 and everyone counted them dead ?

Just for grins, I went back and did some research. The Steelers started the 2005 season with 7 wins in their first 9 games, and were +10 in turnover margin at that point. They dropped 3 straight games and were -6 in turnover margin for those losses. Finally, they saved their season by going +2 for their final four games, all wins, and they were never worse than even in turnover margin in those 4 games.

We all know what happened from there. I'm not saying this year's Saints in any way shape or form resemble last year's Steeler team, just emphasizing how critical turnovers are in determining a team's fate.
