MLB’s season outlook is getting bleaker by the day with COVID continuing to wreak havoc across the league. The Marlins and Phillies haven’t seen the field since Sunday while the Cardinals, Brewers, Blue Jays and Nationals find themselves in similar limbo. Simply put, the league is scrambling to save its season, as commissioner Rob Manfred alluded to Friday in his conversations with union head Tony Clark.

It seems like they should have expected this. MLB should be much easier than NFL. Just pull up guys from the minors. In 2-3 weeks you get your stars back. it will even out among the teams throughout the year.

After this initial report, he said this today. He probably took heat from the higher ups who want the $$$.

The money motivation is fine but the owners and players are going to have make an investment of time and money if they want the season to continue. The players have to agree to leave their families and enter a bubble, and the owners need to finance regional bubbles.

Hopefully, the NFL is doing things smarter, but it only takes one bad actor to upset the applecart, like the story from a few days ago that an NBA left the 'bubble' to go to a strip club, BAD...

I'm not an expert on mlb but it seems less flexible than NFL in that I feel teams usually lose players to injury so NFL with increased roster size ""might"" can weather the storm. I think because of roster sizes maybe the nfl should try normal and go into bubble for playoffs since home field probably won't matter

The goal shouldn't be to even it out. The goal should be to have a season without people getting infected. Even recovering from from covid doesn't necessarily mean you're recovered. There's long term health implications for a lot of people. Look at the NBA being concerned about the long term lung and heart problems:

You also have a Red Sox pitcher who already is dealing with heart problems after recovering from it:

One thing football has going for it at least is lack of travel compared to baseball. On road games it is pretty much fly to hotel, eat, sleep, play on game Day fly back. Also most NFL players are married and tend to Go home after games or when they arrive back from a road game.

Well they don't have minors this year. Minor league seasons were canceled. They have 30 man rosters and 30 players at an alternate training site.

The problem is they play so many games in a week that teams are really getting behind. By the end of the weekend the NL East will be 10 games into the season. But the Phillies and Marlins have only played 3 games. If a NFL team had an outbreak after a game they could take a 13 day break and only miss 1 game...which they could make up in a bye week or tack onto the end of the season. It's going to be easier for the NFL in this situation. But this whole thing started because they let Covid positive players play in a game. It's all about testing and good decision making.

Where in the world are you getting your last sentence from?
casinos and nightclubs in the quarter/downtown tell a far different story on game night than the one you’re offering

Manfred was done after his Astros fiasco response.

So then he blows this post covid season in ways I couldnt have even predicted. Its full fireworks. Surely MLB couldnt have failed any more than they have, right?

Ignore him. He obviously makes things up to try and sound like he knows what he's talking about
