NFL owners are scheduled to vote on a plan Wednesday to move Super Bowl LVIII in ’24 out of New Orleans because of a conflict with Mardi Gras, reports Sports Business Daily.
The move would push the host date back one year to 2025.
New Orleans was awarded the 2024 game in May of 2018 but the NFL’s new labor contract with the NFLPA allows for a 17th game to be added to the schedule as early as ’21. An extended season would put the 2024 Super Bowl just two days before Mardi Gras.
