The NFL is doing whatever it can to limit the potential financial losses for the 2020 season, which will be directly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

The league has proposed that 35% of each player's salary is held as a way to eschew costs for the lost revenue the league may face due to the pandemic, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero,

35% Player Pay Cut Proposed by NFL

Mods - I didn't see another post on this and thought this important info for WhoDats on SR. If it has, pls merge this one. Thx

Me and everyone in my industry to a very sizable pay cut. But we don't have a union.

Said this in another thread, but we might see only the players that haven't had big paydays playing.
A huge year for developmental players. An entire season of pre-season football.
How well you stocked your 90 man roster could be huge.

Unfortunately, a LOT of our guys that make us great have already made their fortune and so we'd be just another team in this event.

This is a hot topic

Yeah, it makes great fiscal sense for the owners who are already losing billions..

Not every owner has the cash on hand to get through a shortened season/season with no fans and be able to make it.

Look at Fertita in the NBA who's lost a huge chunk of his fortune being it was tied up in casinos and restaurants

We're talking about owners who are billionaires and making it sound like they are living paycheck to paycheck. So in essence, we're saying that billionaires can't survive one year without the revenue they receive from fans attending games for 1 season? 1 season and they will be bankrupt? I'm sorry, I can't wrap my head around this....billionaires can't survive one season without the revenue they get from one season?

So are the billionaire owners only billionaires from year to year?

:LOL::LOL: A Bonus!?!?!? I work in a hospital with DIRECT contact with COVID patients. If anyone deserves a bonus it would be hospital personnel not guys playing a sports already making millions. :::HUGE EYEROLL:::
Anyone who by their job is forced or expected to be at work in an environment that exposes them to the risk of catching the virus should receive hazard pay regardless of their income, sports figures included. The first in line to get that pay should be people in the medical field. Sports are a luxury. However, if their employer is forcing them to perform in an environment that exposes them and their family to a virus that kills, then they should be compensated accordingly. They are fortunate to be paid very well for having an ability that not everyone has. It's market value and free enterprise at its best.

Keep in mind that’s a player agent at the heart of your eye-rolling. They get to keep a lot of the players’ money anyway. It’s how that whole system works.

Just to clarify.... NFL haven't lost a dime yet.

NFL draft broke rating records.

Any pay cut should be done after the season and go into affect next year
To clarify, it is not a pay cut. but a portion of the contract put in escrow in case of significant losses. Player salaries are tied to a percentage of revenues per the CBA (used to calculate the salary cap). Players are used to revenues increasing every year. However, with the likelihood of a significant decline in the revenues, there is a potential for decreased cap/ allocation to players' salaries.

Net worth and cash on hand are not the same..

Someone can be a billionaire and not have a dime in the bank
