It doesn’t appear the New Orleans Saints will face a Carolina Panthers squad at full strength in the final week of the regular season. Per a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Panthers placed backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke to injured reserve with an elbow injury. Heinicke was the projected starter in place of Cam Newton, who was shut down for the season after dealing with a prolonged shoulder injury.
In their place, here comes reserve quarterback Kyle Allen. Allen briefly filled in for Heinicke before halftime last week against the Atlanta Falcons, completing all four of his pass attempts for 38 yards. The 22-year old rookie previously played for the Texas A&M Aggies before transferring to the Houston Cougars in college, but ended his senior season on the bench. He spent most of the 2018 season on the Panthers practice squad. ...
