Report: Saints will play Rams to open 2019 if LA wins Super Bowl (1 Viewer)

It looks like we’ll see a rematch of one of the conference championship games to start the NFL’s 100th regular season, regardless of who wins Super Bowl LIII on Sunday.

Should the Los Angeles Rams win the game, they could host the New Orleans Saints, and if the New England Patriots win, they would play the Kansas City Chiefs at home in the 2019 NFL Kickoff Game, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

There are other games the league will consider, however, including a prospective matchup between the Rams against the Seattle Seahawks or Chicago Bears, or between the Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys, and Cleveland Browns.

But the idea of Championship Sunday rematch remains the league’s preference right now.

Two weeks ago, a pair of road teams won their respective conference title games to advance to Super Bowl LIII, when the Rams beat the favored Saints in New Orleans and the Patriots defeated the Chiefs in Kansas City in an overtime game. ...
