Opening weekend was a good one for the Saints but not necessarily for star wide receiver Michael Thomas.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports Thomas suffered a high-ankle sprain Sunday in the New Orleans win over Tampa Bay.
Typically, the injury takes several weeks to heal but Thomas intends to play through it, according to Pelissero.
Emmanuel Sanders, Tre’Quan Smith and Jared Cook will be among those targets in the Saints passing game who will have to step up if Thomas is limited or unavailable. Tre’Quan Smith becomes a viable waiver pickup.
