Rewatched the 2009 Season Victories (8 Viewers)

The Saints were a machine in ‘09 and it started IMHO in the preseason against the Raiders. I had a strong feeling after this domination that something special was truly building. Enjoy the highlights:

I was at this game with my uncle who is a Raider fan. Brings back memories to hear Greg Pappa on the calls. Lets just say they weren't too happy seeing a young guy in a Saints jersey that day. Still nothing compared to the hostility I would get at 49er games...

Yep. Probably the single most memorable preseason game I can recall. The smackdown we put on those guys just felt “different.” Like we were so great that we could just toy with another team at-will.

Everything was just so “on” that day. Like the entire team was in the zone, including coach and his play calling, as well as the backups. Hadn’t seen anything like it before in a preseason game.

We just left that game feeling like we were going to basically smoke the whole league that year, and that we did.

In 2009 the screen game was amazing in 2011 with Sproles and PT it was elite
That’s what I hope will be Neal’s contribution. He has the reputation for weaving around tacklers like the incomparable Pierre Thomas. I still marvel at that TD in the second half of XLIV.

I was talking to my brother today about Brees and what I remember most is that we were never out of a game. I don’t care what the score was he was going to find a way to get us back in the game and either win or get down to the last drive. What a great feeling to watch a Saints game and never think you can’t win…..

And the Miami game in 2009 is the prime example.

After the 2006 season, I felt the same way

Yep. Not just that, but to go into almost every game knowing that the team not only could win, but also potentially completely blow away anyone on any given Sunday was fun too.

I miss that time period where Saints + Superdome + Night = automatic opponent obliteration.

I had the most serene experience watching that season including the playoffs. My dad died in August just before the season started and my mom was so sad for months. She kept saying I wish dad would give me a sign or something to let me know he’s ok. I kept telling her all that season that dad knew how much she loved the Saints and he’s up there working his magic every week as the victories piled up. Even as we trailed in the Super Bowl I told her no worries, dad has this.

Yes! I remember hearing that game on the radio at work and we scored a 40 burger. My brother also went to a training camp practice before that game and said we would win the Super Bowl and that was the year when I also first went with a mohawk for the entire year. DA made me move away from it but now KM is bringing me back! Here's me doing my Crosshawk which is a mohawk in both directions.

Btw, I STILL can't watch the NFCCG without getting nervous. Especially as the Vikings are driving with under 2 minutes. I get nervous until the Porter pick. So nervous after because we had a dicey play that could have been disastrous right after the pick. Still nervous in OT with the PT 4th down attempt that was reviewed and successful. And STILL nervous on the pass that got us the DPI for a 1st. Nervous until I see Hartley nail the OT game winning kick and then it's relief. Lol
Vikings fans think of the 2009 NFCCG just like we think of the 2018 one. Refs screwed them multiple times.
