RexJet here to give you the local info on the Giants (1 Viewer)

You're a classy guy, rexjet. Welcome to being a Saints fan for a week. :9:

Hey Norleans !
First off, I would like to respectfully request honorary Saints Fan membership this week. I got my Saints hat (for real!), I know the history of "WHO DAT", and I need you to stomp the Giants out big time this week.:ezbill:

As for the matchup:
Giants passing game - Eli is the goods, but that injury is extremely painful; it will not stop him from playing, but he has not tested it for 4 quarters yet. I will call it an unknown potential advantage. Smith is the go to guy, but this kid Manningham is the real deal - he is the home run threat. In replacing Plaxico they have gone to a committee approach – Eli will spread it around.

Giants on the ground:
Jacobs is showing signs of wear and tear - he is still a bruiser, but not what you may remember him as . He has about the same rushing yards (355) as Bradshaw (375) with 2x the carries (58-100) this year. Bradshaw has stepped up his game - he will be the guy to worry about more.

Giants fans
There is absolutely NO talking to them right now, so don’t bother. They are in fantasy-land, and they still think you are the same old Saints - I say good, let them think that, better they don’t see you coming; I know we didn’t, and it worked to your advantage. Also, Giant fans will be the first to admit they have not beaten anyone yet; talk on the radio today was about the Giants starting the "Varsity" part of their schedule. They need to be knocked down a peg...

On who will win:
I'll be fair and say both offenses cancel out each other. (This can be argued all day by both sides,(Brees is better, Eli has a ring, Giants have Brandon, you have Reggie, your WR's are better, etc etc..) Bottom line, both of you can make the case that you can run it and throw it well.
(Just Please tell Reggie to hold on to the ball this week, pleeease)

IMO, the difference in this game and the reason you will win is defense.

You have playmakers on Defense, the Giants do not. Their strength on defense is their ability to rush the quarterback - but against Drew that is not as effective as it is against most other teams; he is an incredible decision-maker back there - he knows where everyone is on the field at all times. I think the thing that distinguishes Drew from the pack is that when under pressure, he not only knows to get rid of the ball but he is able to make a positive play out of it.

In addition, the Giants secondary is banged up and pedestrian at best; it will be very difficult for them to make big plays against your offense. This also gives you the potential to light them up all together.

Typically in these big-game matchups, it comes down to who makes the fewest mistakes and more importantly, who makes plays. We love talking X's and O's all the time, but when you think about past champions, you think of players, not schemes and matchups.

Your defense has the pass rush, the pressure scheme, and most importantly, a play-maker in the secondary. The importance of a guy like Sharper cannot be understated here; look at the Colts without Sanders or the Steelers without Polamalu..

The Giants simply do not have any playmakers back there, and their pass rush alone is not going to be enough to stop your offense.

And let's not forget the DOME field advantage. The drunk-cajun thing you got going there is definitely a big factor

Prediction: Welcome back to earth Giants - Saints 34 Giants 20

Hope this helps - Good Luck, I'm rooting hard for you guys!!!!!

Best

RexJet

(and yes, I am still sick about the fins game ):jpshakehead:
Hey man, thanks for the support! You and '115 are turning me into a dirty south jets supporter with the respect you guys show. "You sure ain't like bears fans"!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info Rexjet. To attain official honorary membership, we'll need proof that you did in fact purchase Saints merchandise. Please post a pic of you wearing the hat for formal admission into the hallowed halls of Saints fans. To protect your identity and to ensure no conflict of interest with your current Jets fan membership, you may partially obstruct your face with sunglasses, your hand, newspaper, or any other handy item. A picture of the hat by itself will also suffice, providing you place it on top of a NY/NJ newspaper (for authenticity's sake). Thank you for your application to become a Saints fan, it's a great family. :ezbill:

LOVE IT!!!! First good laugh I've had all day. NOW LETS SEE THE HAT!!:plus-un2:

Thanks, RexJet. I agree with most of your sentiments. However, I do think we have a better rush defense than the Giants. If we can establish the run early, this will open up the play action for us. You are correct that there is no way their secondary can match our WR's. If they have to load up the box to defend the run, I don't see anyone on their team able to recover quickly enough to defend the pass.

The key is going to be to get a quick score, let our defense force then into playing catch up and then pounding the rock against their "suspect" run defense. This will allow us to control the clock and force Manning into a pass happy offense. If this is done, his injury will pose a serious problem for the Giants through 4 quarters (as you said above). We have fast enough ends that his mobility should be hampered, which will force mistakes or throw aways to stay up right.

I'm predicting Saints win this one and it looking closer than it really it: Saints 27 Giants 21

Good points - I think Drew vs Giants secondary is a big mis-match -
and greg will have some surprises for Eli, no question.

Good Luck!

I allways did like the jets except for that year when turley ripped off your boy's helmet in that infamous game.

Thanks Rexjet. You are one classy guy. I felt really bad about your last game.
I am still rooting for your team and will for the ext few years.

I thought the Giants pass D was better than their run D?

Edit: Yea you're in! Great pic! :smilielol:

i think that the big difference will be our defense versus their offense.

the toughest defense that their offense has faced all year is currently #21 overall (dallas). we are ranked #6th.

i believe that we have the best back seven that they will have faced since the redskins but i think that our Defensive ends are better.

Thanks Rexjet. You are one classy guy. I felt really bad about your last game.
I am still rooting for your team and will for the ext few years.

Thanks Bart!

You guys are my NFC team!!!!

You're a classy guy, rexjet. Welcome to being a Saints fan for a week. :9:

That's how it starts. You root for the Saints one week and have a hell of a time. Then it's a slippery slope into hardcore who dat fandom addiction. You've been warned, rexjet.
