Rickey Jackson snubbed again for HOF. (1 Viewer)

RJ gets the shaft and they let Terrell Davis in? That whole glorious 6 year career of his is certainly better than Ricky

growl

Kenny Stabler, Ray Guy, Richard Dent, Charles Haley

I am surprised that these guys aren't yet even in the Hall of Fame .

Doesn't Charles Haley have like 5 Superbowl rings?

I just don't understand the Davis selection, other than the writers post-justification of their earlier homages to him before they realized that almost anybody was a 1,200 yard back in that system. Davis was a great RB player who happened to be in a Denver uniform at the right time, but not a HoF player IMO.

And why on earth Tippett is in there instead of Jackson, other than because he played in a large market in the northeast, absolutely baffles me. The Saints' losers' image is killing both Jackson and Mills.

Monk and Reed don't belong in, either.

Other than that, boy, there's some awfully good players on that list who won't make the final 17.

Oh, I didn't see Rick Middleton's picture in there. Did I just skip over it?

Jackson is as good as, if not better than, Richard Dent or Kevin Greene. Oh, and as far as wide receivers go, I agree that Monk and Reed are fairly overrated. They were good, just not Hall of Fame good. Gary Clark, Monk's fellow wideout on the Redskins, had similar statistics.

Oh, and Ken Stabler does not belong there, either.

I've been saying for years that Rickey Jackson is as good as Lawrence Taylor ever was. LT played on a better team than Rickey did. I just don't understand their rationale.

Well you compare Jackson to the other LBs on the list to see if he belongs

Randy Gradishar - No idea who this is

Kevin Greene - Probably the most direct comparison to Rickey Jackson. Similiar players. Greene had more sacks though (3rd all-time, 160 to 126) so until he gets in, Jackson shoulodn't get in.

Charles Haley - Similiar player to Greene and Jackson except he spent much more time in his prime as a 4-3 DE then either Greene or Jackson. Only 100 sacks but also 5 Super Bowl rings.

Derrick Thomas - Amazing 126 sacks in only 11 seasons. Would have finished in the top 3 all-time sack list for sure if he hadn't died. Probably the next LB on this entire list to get in.

Andre Tippett - Don't know a lot about him actually.

Shocked, just shocked, Sam Mills didn't make the semi-finalist list. As for Rickey, honestly guys, I don't see him making it. You have at least 3 "pass-rushing specialist" type DE/LB making it in before him in Greene (#3 all-time), Haley (5 SB rings), and Derrick Thomas (tragic end to what was almost certainly a HoF career on its own).

I don't see how you can say that. The Saints defense Rickey played on was one of the best in the NFL. It's not as though Rickey didn't have any supporting cast (Sam Mills, Vaughn Johnson, Pat Swilling on the other end?). Most people involved with the NFL, players, journalist, coaches, agree that for a time LT was the most dominant defensive player in the NFL. LT is the only defensive player to win the MVP award in the past like 40 years. No similiar consensous has or ever will exist for Rickey Jackson. You can't just casually dismiss that.

Fred Dean? I can't beleive he made the top 25 and Mills and Jackson didn't.

28 total sacks and 17.5 in one year!!!!

Im mad about this

But i hope that Art Monk gets it this year

if Terell Davis gets it over him then thats just wrong

My ALL TIME FAVORITE player...I think Im just going to resign myself to the fact that hes never going to get in.

I'll continue to wear his #57 on every GameDay until we win the SB.

Andre Tippett played the exact same position as Rickey Jackson - un-freakin'-believable...

Roger Wherli - I just threw up in my mouth...

Everyone should write Zimmerman and King (and whoever else)...

Tippett and Greene and no Jackson????? What is that all about? And on top of that they have a stinkin' punter in the bunch! Man, talk about a joke!

Absolute shame anout Ricky, but until the media and the leauge respect the Saints it will never respect their players.

No way in hell should Terrel Davis make the Hall of Fame!! He has what 2-3 good seasons! How Art Monk still isn't in the HOF just shows the intelligence of the voters.
