yeah, obvious talent but probably doesn't have much connection to most of us
there's probably a whole slew of people we identify as 'Love Boat' guests and that's about as far as it goes

It's all about how/where you are. I played Elwood P. Dowd in "Harvey" in a high school production. When we told my great uncle and aunt, he didn't bring up Jimmy Stewart, he immediately said, "Oh, Frank Fay! You'll have a tough time living up to that." At the time, I had no idea who Frank Fay was. They, however, went to Manhattan frequently on business, knew all the Broadway stars, and considered movie stars way down the list on talent. But as you say, for most people, Broadway stars are known to them only as one time guests on game shows and bad sitcoms.
