He didn’t make it easy for himself, I’ll grant you that. Rose could be and was, at times, a very selfish, egotistical, self-centered, extremely arrogant butt crevasse. His denials for over 16 years after first being banned permanently in 1989 then suddenly “owning it” hurt his reputation as well.


But we’re honoring him for what he did on the field and honestly, if we’re comparing Rose’s crimes and abhorrent behavior to past reprobates, racist bigots, gamblers and cheats like Ty Cobb, then Rose doesn’t seem so terrible. Compared to Cobb, past Chicago Cubs manager-player Cap Anson, Pete is a choir boy.
 
My brother left this world yesterday after a heart attack on Friday in which he died twice and then left him unresponsive until his passing Monday. Last Thursday was his 65th birthday.
If there was a HOF for being generous, sincere, devoted, hilarious, the best friend you ask for, a hater of injustice, and the absolute king of sarcasm he would be a shoe in. He held a deep respect for the elderly and disabled.

what a beautiful tribute
seems like it was his time to go but he made the most of his time here
we could all hope for such
