Why tryout if you feel this way about NFL football?

Humans are complex. Richard Matthews is complex and he had conflicting feelings. If you can’t see his humanity then you prove his point in his letter.

Why tryout if you feel this way about NFL football?

I am highly trained in a very niche area with not a lot of job openings
I can continue to claw at a hold on what I have
Or start over at the bottom
I’m not saying I agree with everything he said, but I understand

Sour grapes...He seemed to blame others for not, what, not stroking his ego? He did not want it enough anymore, so just say that instead.

How anyone can defend this guy is beyond me. Matthews excuses are a joke.
The ONLY explanation is this guy is weak and gave up when what he wanted wasn’t given to him. He quit on this team just like he did the titans and dolphins.

From the outside it looks like hes being a Cry Baby

But....

None of us know what hes went through and or going through.

I wish him the best

Like Sean said, this league isnt meant for everybody

Did not like this signing to begin with. He didn't fit the culture of our team. Not surprising to me.

Reading what he wrote, I get two inpressions:

1. He's a Kaepernick wannabe
2. He should use his newfound free time to take an English class

I don’t know much about Matthews outside of his journeyman NFL career but my guess is he’ll be hard pressed to find a job that matches his NFL paycheck. He quit the team and was released.
