The Cowboys played against the NFC South this past year, so Rob will be fresh off of gameplanning vs. our divisional foes.

Tampa Bay

10 points surrendered
75 team rushing yards off of 25 attempts for an average of 3.0
Josh Freeman: 10/28 for 110 yards passing, 1 TD/1 INT with a rating of 45.2
2 sacks recorded
2 takeaways

Carolina

14 points surrendered
112 team rushing yards off of 21 attempts for an average of 5.3
Cam Newton: 21/37 for 233 yards passing, 1 TD/1 INT with a rating of 73.4
2 sacks recorded
2 takeaways

Atlanta

19 points surrendered
123 team rushing yards off of 26 attempts for an average of 4.7
Matt Ryan: 24/34 for 342 yards, 0 TD/0 INT with a rating of 102.8
3 sacks recorded
0 takeaways

His defense dominated Tampa Bay, held Carolina in check, and only surrendered one touchdown to Atlanta.

I'd say that overall his defenses played really well against our divisional foes, and it looks like he'll be well prepared to stop these teams in 2013.

good post! thanks for the info. I have my reservations about Ryan, but that's definitely a huge plus if he can keep up that success against our division.

Thanks for the analysis.

I went back and looked at Dallas' schedule, and they played us last of the 4 NFC South teams, and Atlanta second last. Certainly gives credence to the argument that mounting injuries were largely responsible for (what was said to be) their under-performing season.

Dallas also has more tools on D than we do...I am excited about our personnel in a 3-4 though (it cant get any worse, and the players will be motivated!). I do like the RR hire, too. Cant wait to take the new D for spin!

Saints winning formula below...

SP + RR(3-4) X DB=NFCCG/SB(48)

Ware did indeed get 4 of the sacks:

2 vs. TB
0.5 at CAR
1.5 at ATL

Sean Lee (LB) got the INT vs. TB and Claiborne (CB) got the INT at CAR.
