ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – According to the New Hampshire State Republican Party and an Associated Press report, Republican presidential candidate and Texas Congressman Ron Paul will be excluded from an upcoming forum of Republican candidates to be broadcast by Fox News on January 6, 2008.

“Given Ron Paul’s support in New Hampshire and his recent historic fundraising success, it is outrageous that Dr. Paul would be excluded,” said Ron Paul 2008 campaign chairman Kent Snyder. “Dr. Paul has consistently polled higher in New Hampshire than some of the other candidates who have been invited.”

Snyder continued, “Paul supporters should know that we are continuing to make inquiries with Fox News as to why they have apparently excluded Dr. Paul from this event.”

If anyone still questions whether Fox News is biased then I think you should reconsider.

Ron Paul is now projected as a top three finisher in both Iowa and New Hampshire yet he is being excluded. Paul has also raised more money than any other Republican candidate. My thoughts, this will REALLY backfire on Fox and I am glad they did it. I also think they will catch hell from Paul supporters and the 41% of people in New Hampshire that are independents and they will let him in. I hope they don't let him in because it will surely backfire.

bclemms, I don't want to make any excuses for FOX but the Dems were very suspicious a few months back about appearing on FOX News for any debate. In fact they hate the network except for maybe Liden. Is Fox biased? Perhaps and they will probably reverse their trend as the flak gets back on them I also want to say this as a center right guy myself I like Paul on some issues and he is very popular in the North East and some places in the Midwest, but the South is where this race will be decided bclemms. their the new power house in this country and for the past 40 years the South has been staunchly conservative Republican. If the Dems want to win the 08 race they have to win at least some of the South because thats where a good majority of votes will come from. Paul is from Texas but he does not have the southern vote on his side albeit for a few places.

Hillary wont win the South, neither will Rudy, maybe John Edwards if he on the ticket, Huckabee yes because he is from Arkansas.

This has nothing to do with the South, has nothing to do with the democrats. This is a Republican debate before the NH primary. A state that Ron Paul will do very well in. This has to do with Fox trying to exclude a candidate in order to sway an election at a debate platform which is supposed to be unbiased.

The Ron Paul forums which have a massive following are already organizing. They are buying up tickets to the debate and will not sit or stop chanting Ron Paul until they are dragged out or tazed. That is if they even get in because they are also organizing a peaceful demonstration blocking the entrance to the debate. Not to mention flooding Fox with phone calls, emails, protests and organizing a boycot against Fox sponsors. Of course this is only an hour or so after the press release so I can only imagine how insane this will get.

Ron Paul already has thousands of fans that have traveled to New Hampshire just to help campaign. I'm guessing if this holds we will see 10k or so at the debate in protest.

Or just might be because the man is "out there".

look, the only people that appear to be taking him seriously are his supporters. Everyone else tends to ignore him except when he does an interview that reinforces the "kook" image.

I can't find any confirmation from Fox or the NH GOP that he's been excluded. None of the other reports seem definitive.

If the news is true then Paul should be rejoicing. The exclusion would generate far more news and fundraising than debate participation.

I agree 100% Severum. I can't imagine that Ron Paul's official campaign would put a press release out if it was not true. Yesterday there were several rumors about this and the official campaign was asking the Ron Paul supporters hold off before they could get confirmation that he was being excluded.

fair and balanced?

what does corporate media have in common?

interlocking directories

"Media corporations share members of the board of directors with a variety of other large corporations, including banks, investment companies, oil companies, health care and pharmaceutical companies and technology companies. This list shows board interlocks for the following major media interests: "

http://www.monthlyreview.org/301rwm.htm

"The leading CEOs are all on a first name basis and they regularly converse. Even those on unfriendly terms, like Murdoch and AOL-Time Warner’s Ted Turner, understand they have to work together for the “greater good.” “Sometimes you have to grit your teeth and treat your enemy as your friend,” the former president of Universal, Frank Biondi, concedes. As the head of Venezuela’s huge Cisneros group, which is locked in combat over Latin American satellite TV with News Corporation, explains about Murdoch, “We’re friends. We’re always talking.” Moreover, all the first and second tier media firms are connected through their reliance upon a few investment banks like Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs that quarterback most of the huge media mergers. Those two banks alone put together fifty-two media and telecom deals valued at $450 billion in the first quarter of 2000, and 138 deals worth $433 billion in all of 1999...."

So you want a guy for President that cannot be a leader under adverse conditions?

If he sounds like a kook when questioned by 'biased reporters' but does much better in a friendly format, he needs to get out of politics. He certainly doesn't need to be President.

Ron Paul's message has to be carefully crafted to sound reasonable because it is a tangle of half truth. If he would say what he really believes he would never be elected and he knows it. Reminds me of Hillary.

Logic leap much?

Gumbeau, define "kook", just so we're all clear here.

Gumbeau didn't use that word, I did.

Gumbeau is right, if the guy can only say what he means in an evironment that is friendly to him then that would be a problem to me.
You see how people get on Bush for the slightest misspeak. Paul seems like he would be in more hot water as president.

If this is true-- then wouldn't the "American" thing to do be to let the guy take part in the debate and let the people decide if he's crazy or eccentric?? :dunno: ... What a novel concept... And before anyone counters with "If we let every loon who wants to be President be in the debate"-- you can't ignore Paul's high % of supporters.

Part of the problem is that the only ones saying he has been excluded is his own people. Fox News doesn't seem to have confirmed or denied it yet.
Now, if he is in his supporters will claim some sort of victory when (right now) it's not even clear that he is not going to be asked to be there.
