National Journal Would Like You Ron Paul Fanatics To Knock It Off
June 6, 2007

EXERPT:
Some Ron Paul geeks got very angry about our fun trick last night — we put Ron Paul on our “Choose the Debate Winner” poll and watched as someone quickly voted for Ron Paul 5,000 times, obviously putting him in First Place, and then we changed his name to “The Mickey Mouse from HAMAS-TV,” so that we’d have a real winner. And then the Ron Paul geeks got on their Linux or whatever and HAX0RD the DoS or something, so now the poll won’t load —

These polls are a hoot !! 75 ... 95 ... 98% support for Ron Paul ?!?! You guys give a whole new meaning to the term "unscientific poll." Whether these polls are being spammed by Ron Paul supporters, or pranksters jumping on the bandwagon that is the running joke created by Ron Paul supporters, this post could very well be his death knell. He may not be the first politician to be drowned out by the din of his own fanatic supporters, but he may well be the first in history to have this happen on the internet. Congratulations Ron Paul base.

From the other thread:

yea considering most internet polls only allow one vote and the fox text message poll, was the same way, I find it hard to do that unless you have several ISPs just laying around. This is the line Foxnews has been presenting since just HOURS after their debate. Turns out they discovered their polls arent very accurate when the person they had been misrepresenting, bashing and damn near slandering for the last few weeks, was actually winning the poll. To me if this is the line MSNBC and FOX are gonna throw out I guess they need to quite putting that small margin of error at the bottom and touting there polls as true gauges of public opinion. All i saw from Fox was them shooting there legitimacy in the foot. Hannity: "I have a feeling Ron Paul's people MAY(ironic he knew this mere minutes after the debate) have been spam voting." so im sitting there thinking "So Hannity your basically saying the legitimacy of your polls is crap, then why are you and O'Reilly spouting them as dogma every night to reinforce your own beliefs?"

Fact is I watched the debates and if America still has an IQ above 75 then there is no way Ron Paul DIDNT win the debate. He was the only one who ACTUALLY anwsered the questions given to him and the only one who continuelly got strong applause for everything he said.

But your right, online polls dont measure everything perfectlly and I would never use it as the only gauge to determing something. Its more the fact that when Fox in particular has been claiming there online polls as true gauges of public opinion until the person they dont like wins one of them. Just a very interesting observation into the skewed madness that is the Faux News network.

Not to mention I voted MSBCs poll yesterday and guess what I could only vote ONCE!

But, you're not a black hat computer hacker, are you?

Can someone link me to any proof that the mainstream polls have been hacked or that they have been in any way more skewed then any other internet poll? I mean all i see are some blogs that set op votes that allowed more then one vote and trying to correlate emails from upset supporters who feel the media is ostricizing Ron to the poll numbers, by just claiming there crazy, there doing it. Sorry, if it was so easy for hackers to do that stuff you would think that would be occuring more often and we would see similar things happening on the left.

I will ask did you watch the debate?

Plus your Wonkette and Freemarketnews thing that talks about the GOPbloggers site is completelly BS and has one key flaw that makes it completelly irrelevenat - and the comments section presents it pretty clear also. That the GOPbloggers poll DID NOT limit the amount of times a person could vote the way EVERY SINGLE mainstream poll has done. So I will say either I need proof of hacking or I think this is nothing more then a conspircy theory built off the wings of Foxnews and Limbaugh that gave this hypothesis life.

N.O., it's common on hacker-related websites for people to post a hack, consisting of half a page of script commands, which allows hackers to vote as many times as they want in an online poll.

No, I won't post a link. :)

No, I didn't watch the debate, because it's too early in the political season as far as I'm concerned.

But, I'll happily throw you a bone here, N.O. Enjoy! :)

CNN censorship eyed as web site breaks down under traffic supportive of Republican Ron Paul
2007-06-07 01:26:43

Overwhelming response in web poll causes CNN to pull Republican candidate Ron Paul's support from blog pages. Ethical issues raised in battle of new media credibility versus old media manipulation and foreign influence over U.S. elections.

Following Tuesday night's televised Republican debate on cable giant CNN, the networks web site was lit up with support for pro-Constitution candidate Dr. Ron Paul, congressman from Texas.

The post-debate blog comments from individuals around the country were overwhelmingly in favor of Paul's positions and answers.

By midnight, the CNN web page was deactivated and temporarily forwarded to the results page from
the Democratic debate over the weekend. It is unclear whether the page was deactivated for internal political reasons at the media powerhouse or a technical deficiency in their web operations. [Screen capture prior to deactivation] Inquiries to the network were unanswered.

Again the polls only allowed one vote per ISP the hack would have a trail and would be able to be found, if one exists no doubt Fox would be lauding it all over the place. And like i mentioned if its such a common thing you would see it used more often then it is. I mean just think about it, that theory requires so many assumptions to be right to even stand a chance at being possible. I will say he does have a HUGE internet following, 100s and 100s of thousands of youtube views for many of his videos attest to it. but the same thing can be said about Mike Gravel and Barack Obama.

If you would have watched the debate you would understand just how pathetic the mainstream candidates looked - dodging questions, painfully obvious talking points, the works! Ron Paul pretty much layed the smackdown and nailed every question he was thrown. This is coming from a guy(me) who thinks his domestic policies would be absolutelly disasterous(privatizing all mail, education, anything he can get his hands on). I even think his stance on Iraq is too extreme(pulling out immediatlly, fully and dropping all monetary support for them). But the fact is he stood his ground and from every person ive talked too, left or right he was the pretty much the winner.

Your lack of faith in the abilities of hackers is astonishing and misinformed. :e-nerd:

Again please provide some evidence. I find it interesting you are defaulting to a scenario that takes so much of a leap of faith and requires so many questions to be anwsered to make it any way believable. And that you are convinced - even though you didnt watch the debates - that there is no way Ron Paul could win or win by this much. Even if you dont believe it 100% you are still willing to take all this time to search and create threads arguing from that point of view, which infrences at least some sympathy toward that view.

Why do we have no allegations or proof of any tampering? Why is this not just a slightlly inflated reaction to a very strong appearence at a debate? Why is it that we never hear of any other cases where mainstream poll manipulation is happening? Why is the fact he has a lot of devoted fans reason to assume the polls are hacked? Why is it then that Obama who arguablly has an even larger internet following, isnt winning online polls by a comparable margin?

I mean I could go on and on but the fact is there is no evidence of tampering and the assumption being spouted by some requires too many leaps of faith for my taste. My conclusion, he won the debate to any smart person and the polls are probably slightly larger to his side because of his online following but it is no more of an influence on those polls then Obama's or Mike Gravel's strong following.
