Every year there’s one rookie who immediately sticks out at Saints training camp. They don’t always make the roster but, if Emmanuel Butler’s past is prologue, you’d better get ready.
A couple of weeks after the 2019 NFL Draft, we started doing profiles of all 90 players on the Saints 90-man roster. In early May, it looked a little different than it does now. We started with the receivers and that included the undrafted rookies who had been brought in as free agents: Lil’Jordan Humphrey, Deonte Harris and Emmanuel Butler.
Since his signing, there has been a low hum regarding Emmanuel Butler from those in the know. His story is like a lot of heartbreaking ones you hear every year of players whose life plans were derailed because of injury. But he’s fought back, doing whatever needs to be done to make his dream a reality. ...
