Ross Jackson’s biggest takeaways from Loomis, Moore and Ireland at the combine (39 Viewers)

I fully expected there were going to be fans that would suddenly stop trusting Moore as soon as he made a decision they didn't like. Too many fans think they know as much as the people who know a lot more than they do and have the actual hands on experience that they don't. Respect for experience and expertise are foreign concepts to them. Of course, I'm not talking about a single person that this isn't true for.

It’s getting downright salty in here. You can feel the anger through the posts.

You never leave QB hell until you start looking for a QB. You can't get a top tier QB in the draft without investing a high pick which we won't get finishing in the middle of the pack. Of course you can then trade up, but then that makes the fact that your team has drafted the least amount of players in the league over the last 5 years even worse. You can't get one in free agency unless you give out stupid contracts like the one they gave Carr. This team is setup to fail before they even try to look for a new QB.
Truly curious. Where were all the current starting QB’s drafted? How many of them are top 5 pics? Granted this is a couple years old but it still seems pretty enlightening as to how truly crap-shoot the “get a top 5 pick, get a top tier QB truly is.

Top 5 QB Picks in the last ten years

Joe Burrow

Matt Stafford

Kyler Murray

Tua Tagovailoa

Jared Goff

Baker Mayfield

Carson Wentz

Andrew Luck

RG3

Mitch Trubisky

Trevor Lawrence

Zach Wilson

Marcus Mariota

Trey Lance

Jameis Winston

Blake Bortles

Of those top 5 QB’s (at the time), how many would you want on your team? Maybe 3? Granted that probably still speaks more to a weak front office/talent evaluating team….

Let's go back to Patrick Mahomes

We was going to draft him at 11th.

But a team jumped up and get him.

The purpose of getting a higher draft pick is to control your fate and not be dependent on a player falling into your lap. Being a Saints... We was already Brees #2 choice and this wasn't even debatable. Let's just separate the prospect and draft status, because draft classes aren't talent linear. They go up and down.

Chicago had the choice to draft Mitch or Mahomes. This is the importance of having a top pick not who they eventually drafted.

Nobody said good QBs haven't been found later in drafts. But many of those teams were already good when they drafted a possible future QB. We're not those teams. We hit a 20 year low in 2024. Our whole team is trending toward top 5 and a top 5 pick QB won't do well if our roster is bad either. And our roster will only get worse when we're spending nearly as much in dead money as we are on players.

Oh and to be clear…. I love what we’ve done by completely upsetting the apple cart from a coaching standpoint. That was always obvious step 1…

But now is also the time to rip the bandaid off from a player personnel perspective… To build a long term winner. The longer we wait the longer it will be before we are truly competitive…. And we are also subsequently wasting a year of a good young coach’s career in the process.

It’s time to dump old and bad contracts. Fill a couple holes in the lines with cheap FAs…. And Draft young and exciting player makers that make this team worth watching while we develop a young QB or 3 over the next 2 seasons.

This defense is on the way down, and will take longer to fix. So let’s just be drunk Sunday offense fun while we start the rebuild. That’s my vote.

Not saying any of this is easy…. But it needs to be done now.
Says the guy that would rather score 40 pts and lose than 21 and win
