I thought they were going to do away with the "designation to return" and would just let the team bring back one player from IR during the season at their discretion (after the minimum period of missing games as designated by the league of course).

I just don't understand... Why cut them, then bring both of them back? But especially Cadet...

So we won't get Rankins back until a few weeks after the bye? Damn.

I hope you're right. I haven't paid attention to the rule changes this year

With 6 Running backs on the roster I think its clear we will still be doing a fair amount of roster shuffling. We'll see how things go...

You're correct:

Under the new rules, players placed on injured reserve can return to practice after six weeks but cannot play for an additional two weeks. Teams no longer have to designate a player to return, but only one member of the team can return from injured reserve.

There is none.

they did. Now, any player placed on IR after the final 53 is set is eligible to return. But only one per year.

Uh did Rankins have a setback?????? That would be a 10 week recovery time for a 4-6 week injury....

Given how much pressure Rankins' legs will be under as a DT, better to err on the side of caution. Make sure he's 100% when he makes his debut.

I hope them doing this is also related to something like Fairley and/or Onyemata look awesome. Or a trade we don't know about...

Nah. Too much wishful thinking.

Players at other positions ud like to keep. So u hold them during roster cuts then wait for teams rosters to settle. Then you make your cuts and bring back the guys u knew no one (or hoped no one) would claim
