If we can get our cap situation worked out, and I know we will because it is not nearly as bad as some might believe (plus, Loomis is a genius), I would take #9, #12, and #36. #30 is really good but we just cannot afford him, especially if we were to pursue #9 and/or #12.

Considering my theory that we can't afford big salaries, and I would prefer not to sign anyone over 26 years old, my main candidate will be Louis Delmas.

This guy can make an impact immediatelly. He got lost on an awful secondary in Detroit, but the guy can play.

I am not sure how much money will he commend, but I presume it will come cheaper then Byrd or Godson. Any of those will be my choice if we can even afford a free agent.

May be a good year to sign a free agent safety, the tag for the position, according to Ian Rappaport is $6.79 million, so I think a good deal can be structure with a solide player.

No, I am saying that we would not be able to afford Jared Cook in addition to the others.

Edit: Each year, or for the past three years running, much is made of our cap situation. Then, Loomis works his magic, and everyone is then amazed at how we are able to add talent. I can remember Falcons fans last year crying foul that we were able to sign Drew, Colston, Bunkley, Grubbs, Lofton, and Hawthorne after they assumed that we had no money.

Right now, we are $14.7 million over the cap. The number on NFL.com is incorrect, and there is a tendency to see all kinds of misinformation on different sites. you can read ESPN, Nfl.com, nola.com and rotoworld and come away with 4 different projections. My point is that situation is more fluid than any one source is able to keep track of, and I expect the same will be true this year as we make moves to get ourselves under the cap.

Bottom line is, cutting Vilma, Smith, Harper, and Herring gets us to +$10 million. If you get Drew and Jahri to restructure, then the team can create even more space. We have to keep in mind the contracts that will need to be addressed on our own team, and that includes Jimmy Graham. But whether we sign Bushrod or another tackle, the move has to be made. So, in this case, that's wash. Signing Mike Wallace then would be the only big-ticket move we make. Think of this way. Last year, Carl Nicks and Grubbs was a wash, though we saved money on the latter. Ed Reed will not be expensive. So, adding a player like Wallace is not as daunting as it seems. Add Wallace and Cook when Graham has to be signed to a long-term deal would be challenging, however.

Considering the tag numbers, tight end and safety is the ways to go. If we can sign one of each, then use our draft picks to fill the holes in expensive positions.

Reggie Bush, 27, is best suited for a complementary, third-down type role in a pass-first offense, ideally playing in a dome

I don't know what these people are looking at but uh hasn't Reggie shown he CAN handle being an every down back and played much better and lasted longer on grass instead of turf?

Personally I'd like to see us get #1, 6, 14, 25, and 37

Bingo. All those suggesting we go after Brandon Albert are crazy. We can't afford Bushrod. Albert will be WAY outside our budget (along with Clady and Long). Our best hope of getting a great LT are that teams like Philly, Arizona and San Diego go after the high priced FAs and leave us clear to select Fisher at 15.

Yes I would love it if we could get Fisher at 15. Assuming Bushrod gets $8 mil a year we could save $6 million and draft an OT.

I just want Jairius Byrd. I'm really hoping Buffalo will take stupid pills and will let him test the market. Buffalo has already wasted 4 years of his career, he needs to be with a contender.

It doesn't seem that long ago when people could say that about the saints, although we never really lost any great free agents prior to Carl nicks in a while.
