The stunning thing here is his combination of size and speed. Could be a nice sleeper. Here he is outrunning CBs in the secondary, showing patience and bursting through the hole:

He's been flying under the radar, that is until the combine. What do you guys think of this guy?. He's been projected as anywhere from 2nd - UDFA, though his stock may be rising. He was never really a featured RB at Nebraska usually sharing the running duties with another RB or a running QB, but despite this he finished 5th all time at Nebraska.

A back that helped himself was Nebraska’s Roy Helu Jr. He timed at 4.42. He is 5-11, 219 pounds and while he entered the combine with most expecting him to be a mid-round selection, he helped himself greatly.

Here is the guy at the combine podium, seems humble and soft spoken:

You guys want a big back that runs like a big *****? By all means, draft this guy!

Jacquizz Rodgers is the type of guy we should target if we must spend a pick on a back. He's quick as all hell, and really powerful with a low center of gravity(196 pounds, under 5'6).

I'm having trouble seeing why I shouldn't believe Mikel Leshoure is the best back in teh draft, but after that, I'd rather bring in someone like Rodgers, because it's better value.

I like Helu. I’d pick him in the 3rd if he were available. But I don’t get paid to draft, and won’t lose my job if I miss on a prospect. He could end up similar to his Nebraska predecessor Brandon Jackson of Green Bay, who seems to lack toughness. Mike Mayock indicated that he doesn't have very good balance, and goes down often at first contact. I don’t know if that is accurate or not, but it would bear watching by the coaching staff and scouts before picking him.

My momma could run through those holes, but still I am impressed with his style of running and his speed.

Calm down, bruh.

Did you happen to read my post where I was asking the question
What do you guys think of this guy?

You're exasperation is misplaced. This is simply a discussion on a lesser known RB prospect. His strengths are the big play ability and his combination of size and speed. He can find the end zone and can catch. The red flags on him though are that for his size, he seems to go down too easily, and doesn't really pass protect well.

I'm wondering if pass protection is a skill that can be taught and how much discount do we give on that skill if you play with a running QB, seeing as how extended time protecting the passer generally isn't needed.

He fumbles. ALOT. Yet another running back that couldn't secure a full time position on a team that sorely needed someone to step up to be the premeir back in the system they ran....and didn't. I don't think Helu turns into anything but an average back in the NFL. I watch a lot of Husker games, and I was never very impressed with him. The BIG 12 had pathetic defenses this season. The only good one, was the Huskers pass defense. But, their run defense was horrid too. Any game where he actually had broken things open, were against smaller defenses that the Huskers could take advantage of with their size on the offensive front. Like the Mizzou defense.....

I hope some other team bites on this guy, I don't see anything special there.

This is exactly the reason I posted this, I was intrigued by the combine numbers and did some research to dig up what I could, but I knew someone here would have seen this guy play and have a better impression of him. To me, the pass blocking alone would probably rule him out for the Saints, unless he went undrafted, they would take a camp body flier on him, like they did with Chris Ivory, and then go from there. That's one of the great things about this Coaching staff. They really base their decisions on what they see on the field rather than a players name or 40 time.

Goes down really easily with arm tackles someone his size should break.
