Saints agree to terms with WR Courtney Roby (1 Viewer)

we have posters on here that don't like any negativity towards Saints players/coaches/management, even if warranted

it's just the way it is

Well, some folks make the most unsubstantiated remarks concerning players, coaches, and FO staff. Are the rest of us suppose to just let it go?

If a person spouts off in vitriolic, hyperbolic rhetoric, they should be able to cogently explain how they came to that opinion. If they can't, they are tinkling brass and sounding cymbals signifying nothing.

I am especially peeved if they waste my time spouting opinions with a lot of hubris as if they know more than anyone else. They seem frequently to use terminolgy they have picked up somewhere that they are use in a vain attempt to lure the sheep into bleating in a chorus and naively agreeing with them.

Why not just let it go and respect the fact that some people have legitimate reasons for feeling antipathy to certain players or schemes or staff. Its usually not some irrational hatred....its usually based on production and real failures because we are saints fans and we want them to win all of the games.

I'll put myself in that categry. This team i think can do better than Harper, Ingram, Jenkins, and Prob, and Will Smith, and Zach Strief.

I agree, but did any coach see him in preseason last year as a receiver? He never dropped a ball. What is the possibility they replace him on special teams and make him a full time reciever? I believe he could be a top 4 receiver on this team.

GEAUX SAINTS!!!

i was thinking the same thing he did pretty good during pre season and he was a an actual reciever during our superbowl run i think that maybe A) he was lowon our depth chart B) he isnt as good as we think or hope he is and C) he is just better at playing special teams

Thanks for making my point

This is every year!

As we all know, Roby may not be the team's premier receiver. However, I would have to say that he is BY FAR our best special teams player. Some may argue that Sproles is better, but you have to look at the fact that Roby plays on both sides of special teams. He consistently makes tackles and great coverage plays on the defensive side of special teams. And before Sproles showed up, he was a decent return man as well (minus the infamous SF playoff game :covri:). But overall, I think that retaining Roby is a great choice on the Saints' part!!

I thought payton didnt like special teams only players. Isnt that why he cut michael lewis?

beer man was 36 when he was cut. i'm pretty sure it had something to do with wanting to go with a younger player on ST.

that isn't the main reason he cut lewis. he was up in age, losing production and had some injury concerns, as well.

roby not only is a great gunner and in K.O and punt coverage, he is a PRODUCTIVE return specialist and can be relied upon as a WR. he knows and understands the offense and has been productive when given the nod on offense. he is a good locker room presence. he fills multiple positions.

good move by the F.O.
