With 5 games to go we have 4 players who could break the 1000 yard mark this season. Here is a breakdown.

Michael Thomas with 789 yards is the closest and needs to average 42.2 yards a game to hit 1000 for the season

Brandon Cooks at 736 needs another 264 am average of 52.8 per game to top 1000 yards.

Mark Ingram at 729 is just 271 or 54.2 per game to become our first 1000 yard rusher since Duece over a decade ago.

Willie Snead at 593 is unlikely to hit 1000 but at his current pace is on pace for 862 so it's not out of the realm of possibility that he could hit 1000 he would need to average 81 yards to get there.

In the history of the team there's only been 10 or 11 1,000 yard rushing seasons, so that would be a big accomplishment for Mark.

Ingram is criminally underrated amongst Saints fans. 2,454 rushing yards over the last three years on a 4.65 yards per carry average with 18 TD's. Add in another 800 receiving yards and you have a very good back. Only thing keeping him from going over 1,000 yards each of the last three seasons has been injuries.

After battling some injuries in his first few seasons and losing the ball a few times this year, Ingram has rounded into a good overall back in this offense. He's the lightning to Hightower's thunder when the blocking is right. And we're going to be a passing team as long as Payton is the coach, so we might as well enjoy the good things we have back there.

And having an outside chance of THREE receivers go over 1,000 yards is just unreal. And it's happening in a vacuum from the talking heads on TV. I'd not have it any other way, though :hihi:

Ingram is hitting prime years for a RB. If he stays healthy throughout his contract he could be just what we need for the immediate post-Brees years.

Ingram is a great all around back. Might not be the best at anything but but does everything well. Just what fits on this offense.

Ingram is tied with Ajayi leading the league with 5.3 yards per carry. Of course we're not going to have a RB tote the ball 300 times in a season, so he'll never come close to winning the rushing title.

But coach P is committed to the run, which is helping our defense as much as the key players we've been getting back healthy. It's also helping the passing game of course. Balance is key in the NFL. But we're in rare-air with our ability to go fast break on a defense when we want and then go right back to grinding out 1st downs and eating clock.

Have we ever had 4 players hit 1K in a single season?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say no since our best season for offense was 2011.

That year Graham had 1310 yards and Colston had 1143

Now if we're talking combined yards (rush/pass), then I'd still say no since that same year, Sproles had 1313 yards but Pierre Thomas fell just short with 987.

Maybe it happened some other year, but 2011 would have been the most likely.
