Saints are back in the top 10 draft picks after Rams loss (2 Viewers)

The problem is that our best players our old. We have a lot of young knock around guys but the core group is long in the tooth.

For years the Saints have found a way to scratch and claw their way out of blue chip range. Once the season is over they will catch fire and end up in the teens. Personally from here on the Ls are actually Ws. Not a popular opinion, I get it but this roster needs so many dudes. The higher we draft the better positioned we'll be in each round. Drafting in the teens does nothing but keep us in this limbo of fighting for 7-9 wins each year.

Is Cam our best player? How much of a drop of is there to Werner, what about next year? Removing those and going to their understudies would make a significant difference in average age.

I agree, but we missed the window on so many of them. Nobody is going to trade for damaged goods. Cam and DD are the only veterans you might be able to trade.

Meant to say draft picks, someone will fall and hopefully a team would want to trade with us

We need a playmaking ball handler IMO. We lack weapons and are putting too many resources into the lines with fairly limited results.

I’m fine with running it back with the same OL, and on the other side of the ball, just sign a run stuffer.

I have my eye on McMillan or Jeanty early. We need a spark and to take a break from spinning our wheels drafting linemen.

If you want to go to war with a QB of Carr’s level, you need to provide him with a plethora of weapons.

I said that we are going to keep Rizzi for one year.
You know that makes no sense right? To Sign Rizzi to a 4 yr deal and fire him after 1 yr. No FO would ever think of doing that

Cap room will never be a factor in adding players.
The FO always sign the players that they want,
no matter the cost or cap implications.

Extending players and signing UFAs to big contracts is how the team’s cap got into the predictament it’s in. Bottom line is the Saints need to primarily draft more impact players soon to improve the team.
Relying on signing free agents isn’t moving the needle.
Bud , you know that won't fly with the " Cap Space is God " crowd. Because you know that it's the team with the most cap space and use it are the ones that win the SB

This team needs to focus on drafting impact skill position players on offense without health issues and big program production. Like I have been saying for 3 seasons of offensive mediocrity. If we can’t score points or make momentum shifting impact plays on a regular basis…. All of the fat boys in the world won’t save us.
When you say skilled position players on offense?? What positions are you thinking of in order??
The offensive line is couple more players away from solidifying... which should be a priority before getting the QB/WR/TE/RB

Like the idea but I’d rather we lose enough to already be up there, instead of moving up.

I have no doubt tho that Mickey will sell the farm to move up if that is needed.
I think you are under the mistaken idea that ML really runs the draft. He's not a football guy. He does not know if a OL or a WR is worth moving up to draft, He relies on what the HC and scouting dept. tells him. If the HC tell him this guy is worth it go get him he'll try and do it. Also if the HC tells him get this guy and we can make a run at the SB like SP told him about Davenport ML will make a trade up.
I don't look for ML to make any big trade ups in next yrs draft , in fact iot's more likely we trade down. It was reported that if Bowers was available when we picked @ 14 last yr we had a trade down with the Rams in place , but he got picked a spot before us.

Looking back at it if Bowers had been there and we traded back everyone would have been calling for ML's head seeing how great Boweres has been. I would say Bowers would have had a bigger impact on the team than Fuaga

Couldn't agree more. I think McMillan will be gone , probably top 5-7 especially since the QB market is weak. Jeanty should be there. I like the idea of trading back a bit and getting Tre Harris, he's a big X WR and makes contested catches.
If we do anything in FA I'd like to get a DT that can push the middle of the pocket and stuff the run.

The old roster narrative is false.

16/32 to start the season. That's not old, that right in the middle being skewed by a few older players. The rest of the roster is young.
Fair
But on the field, this team moves like an old unit, especially on defense.

The beauty of a wide zone blocking system is that you don't need the whole OL to be great. SF has 1 great OL , Williams. At Denver when it was Shanahan / Kubiak system their OLs were not full of great all-pro guys. If we keep KK as OC what we have except maybe @ LG our OL is fine when healthy. We could probably use some better depth though.

I think our priority is 1st, either WR or DT or Edge. If Graham is there take him, pair him with Bresse and watch our pass rush come to life. If McMillian is there take him, he instantly transforms our WR corps into one of the best in the league. Both would elevate this team. 2nd, TE/S The TE position is well below avg. We need a big body contested pass catcher that's great in the RZ and 3rd down. Honey Badger is not getting younger, he's still a good player but we need someone to compliment him @ SS a guy that can come up and support the run. 3rd , RB , an Achane type guy with speed. We can't keep overloading AK this late in his career, who knows what we have in Miller or if he can stay healthy

I agree ( shocking I know) we are good on the OL except for maybe some depth and @ LG. Only fat guys we need are on the DL. WR, TE , breakaway RB. I would not draft a QB in this draft because I don't think there is one that's good enough to be drafted in the top 10. Build the car and wait for the right driver
