Saints are back in the top 10 draft picks after Rams loss (3 Viewers)

Father Time is going to catch up to DD. He's at an age when even the all-time great HOF LBs hit a wall.

I do agree about beefing up the D-line. It's a must in the offseason.
Yes he and Mathieu will need to be replaced , but i think that beefing up the DL will give them another yr or 2 and give us time to find their replacements. It's all about them as stop gaps now

Speaking of Penning, was listening to Nick’s pregame the other day and was a little surprised to hear him say that he’d be looking to upgrade at RT. I thought Penning had been settling in…..I’ll admit I’ve missed quite a few games this season tho.
While I like Nick and Tripp and I think they are right most of the time. They were insanely down on Penning to the point of making jokes about him. And have been VERY reluctant in giving him his due. He's THE most improved player on the team easily. And he gets backhanded passive aggressive praise from both of them. TP is the #5 RT against the run. That's elite. He needs work on pass-pro we all know that but if he progresses like he did this yr we are fine @ RT Aganst ATL he was the highest rated OT in the league. And all they said was I don't know about PFF ratings. But yet they quote them when he got a low rating.

Yes PFF is not the say all know all but you can't use them when they support your narrative

Is Cam our best player? How much of a drop of is there to Werner, what about next year? Removing those and going to their understudies would make a significant difference in average age.
The core group of players that allowed the Saints to go on their historic run of regular season dominance from '17 to '20 are now old, retired, or playing somewhere else. We don't have a roster full of young talent waiting for their turn. It's not just about having a bunch of young guys to bring down the average age. It's about bringing in young (cheap) guys who can play. And we need a lot of them. Having a higher draft position doesn't mean that they'll hit on prospects but it puts them in a better position to draft quality players without trading up to get them. Or if they do feel like trading up then higher draft picks will help.

There is nothing to be gained this season. DA is gone so that's a bright spot and if we come out of this year with a top 10 pick then I'll take it. But this isn't going to be a quick turnaround imho. Time to think about the future and build up the roster.
